Sweet! Time to test some Mimes :P Out of curiosity, will there be future support for alternate rulesets? I imagine it might be more difficult to dynamically implement some of the mechanics changes recent (haha...) Super Tact tourneys have had, like the Courageous and Cowardly tourney having Brave a...

I "tried" once but couldn't do even one battle and the meanings of all the equipment and abilities were opaque to me since I never played the original FFT. Yeah... the game in its current state is not very accessible if you never played FFT. That said, the Reference tab can get you up to ...

Mega Tact v0.5a released!

If you've been following Mega Tact's development, you're no doubt thinking, "What? So soon?" If you haven't, you're probably wondering why you should care. The Big Deal is that the Mime job is now finished. That means you can now use all 20 generic Jobs. And there's more -- check out the M...

This is basically the "to-do list" for next year.

Hey K-E, when the Chemist's turn comes up again, can you recheck the Head Break bug? Also Lancer and Jump.

No pony references. Do you have any idea how hard it is to draw horses?

Actually maybe I should replace the "Magic" stat with the "Friendship" stat

Have you written deep dialogue for the Honking Penguin yet? I can ALMOST relate to him but not quite, because in real life i both honk AND barf. I love your Guitar Hero inspired battles though, keep it up! For balance reasons, barfing is limited to contest judge The Wobbler. I appreciate your under...

Sure. The optimal play is to work your characters to the bone each and every day. The practical reality, though, is that sometimes you just want to leave the dungeon without having to wait for your characters to die.

Next up on my to-do list is everyone's favorite gimmick Job: the Mime. To aid in testing the Mime, I've added a new map. This map is already available, but it won't really unlock its full potential until the Mime is ready to go. Here's the Stadium map: http://www.slimesalad.com/files/fft-stadium.png...

The punishment for dying is to end your adventuring day. I can understand why you'd expect a harsher punishment, but the overriding philosophy for the game is to reward your successes instead of punishing your failures. For more obsessive players, the fact that your number of party wipes is recorded...

You can now cycle through four depth settings by clicking on the top left cell of the map (the blank cell to the left of "A" and above "1"). The default setting is 1x. At this setting, there is no visual difference between an integer height and the half height above it (i.e. 1h a...

Semi-3D map view: great or bad?

I feel like it gives a better sense of depth, which is important, but it also makes the map feel disorganized. Maybe I'll make it toggleable and add some animation.

The Abilities reference is now ridiculously complete, too.

Did you know that Choco Ball is a physical attack? Maybe! Did you know that Zalmo learns Silence (the Magic Sword spell) despite being unable to use it normally (because he can't equip swords)? Probably not!

Unexciting news: the Reference tab is up and running! This is very close to being the most complete reference guide for FFT in all creation. It has a few holes: Ability damage formulas aren't listed yet. Ability "Learned by" is incomplete, missing non-Action abilities for generics and seco...
