New forum: Q&A Discussion

Our layout has changed a bit today with the addition of the Q&A forum. The intent of this forum is to create a space where users can find answers to their questions, either in the form of questions that have already been asked, or by asking a new question. SDHawk has graciously volunteered to he...

Also, sometimes I Google a phrase that I'm looking for help on, while adding "Slime salad" i.e. -Adding Footstep sound effects "slime Salad" While I'm sure this works, Google more generally supports this functionality with the "site:" prefix. For example, if you wanted...

I tried to 1GAM last year after producing Brood in January. It fizzled out, but I made some good games out of it. This year, I'm working on a text adventure in Inform7 that will probably end up being too ambitious to finish in January, so I'm not willing to commit to 1GAM at this time. It's a great ...

The wiki lists them as a moderate-difficulty species, I think, but they really are deceptively easy. Starting with a wand of heal wounds trivializes the early game, and then you can convert into a renewable source of healing. Makhleb is the best, but Trog's Hand works (so you can start Berserker if ...

I can see the logic there. My only holdback is that this Proposal: Create a new subforum dedicated solely to helping people with the engine. is easy, but this Move existing help threads into it. is not. If I can get some volunteers (not necessarily you; you already do a bang-up job with the reviews)...

Oh, I should mention my allrune win ! I think Deep Dwarf Fighter of Makhleb is almost certainly the easiest character for a three-rune win, and while it isn't nearly as good as a TSO Gargoyle for the extended endgame, it's still serviceable. Cerebov and Tomb gave me a run for my money, but it was mo...

Hmm, I guess I never released it, then. Too bad. The red block/blue block thing isn't a bug, by the way. Blocks only trigger in two cases: when you throw them and when they cascade from another explosion. The game never makes this explicit, but then the game doesn't make most of its mechanics explic...

Did you download this recently? In my version, there are more than 16 puzzle levels, and the high-score-retry bug has been fixed. I'm wondering if I just didn't upload that for some reason.

Addendum: I have bypassed the swearing filter in this review because it insensitively assumes that g ay is an insult. I don't think anyone identifies their sexual orientation as slimetastic. There's nothing wrong with that word and it's childish to block it that way. If you don't like it, you can g...

Nicely done! I've never had luck with Demonspawn, probably because of their terrible aptitudes, but a friend recently allruned a Demonspawn of Qazlal. If you don't already, then you should consider playing on crawl.akrasiac.org, which lets you play console via SSH or tiles via browser. You can spect...
