Actually, that might be it. The rest of the characters pretty much felt like they should.

I felt like this episode lost ground in terms of characterization -- Bob in particular didn't feel like Bob anymore -- but the extra more than made up for any misgivings I had about the episode proper.

You can't write it off before you finish chapter 4. 1-3 are all prologue.

This is from my memory, though, which may be poor -- it might be 1-4 that are prologue. (Yes, that's like half the chapters, but the later ones are longer. First and last chapters are the best, though.)
