My hotel has free Internet access! Rock on. I bought Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume for my vacation. I've just started chapter four; it's embarrassing how much like Phantom Tactics the game is. Fun fact: Wylfred's father in COTP is named Thyodor. Janus's father in PT was going to be named T...

Here's a handy tip: renaming your scripts can screw things up. :(

The journal's on hold for the next week. Don't get any bright ideas. I might do a little work on it during the week, but no promises!

Farewell, kind slimes

I am off to Hawaii for the next week. Don't slime up the joint while I'm gone!

I thought I'd mentioned this, but I ended up deciding to let Lancers push an entire line of units if there are any behind the defender. It was originally just going to fail if there was anyone behind the defender, but I think this way will be more fun. Of course, it still fails if the unit last in l...

I've said this before, but that looks great. My wife thinks so, too.

Lots of fixes! Lots of features! - Fixed the left-facing animation for Garland (I think). - Took another look at that Pirate bug. The more I stare at it, the less sure I am that it exists. The code looks fine. (Update: Argh never mind I think I have fixed it.) - Implemented the Skeleton class abilit...

i can honestly say that i have almost never seen this, and yet it seems like a very simple feature Yeah, it is very simple. FFT tries to do this, and it would have succeeded, too, except that the AI for whatever reason doesn't know how to use projectiles. Exciting news: The level up display is fini...

A few OHR games (notably Surlaw Armageddon) have "mini-FMVs" leading into boss battles. You have to arrange everything just right to pull it off, but it's a great effect. It's not practical for random encounters, though. You could try some fancy slice manipulation -- there's a lot you coul...

More stuff you won't notice, because I care. - Misc. AI improvements. Dislike attacking from squares that are surrounded by multiple enemies. Never attempt an attack that has zero chance of dealing any damage. - Prevent crafty players from screwing up the storyline. (Details suppressed for s...

I spent today attending and traveling to and from my in-laws' family reunion. It was about as fun as it sounds, but it did provide an excellent opportunity for many hours of uninterrputed work on Phantom Tactics, especially given my lack of oh-so-distracting internet access. Here's the progress chec...

Would anyone object to the use of the nightly OHR build as the engine of choice to finish Not a Drop? We're hoping to use some of the new plotscripting commands to help enhance the look/feel of the game. A lot of people do. It's customary to include the executable in your zip anyway so that people ...

Battle #2 finished, I think. Needs to be tested. There's some manmade structure in the second map that can be recycled into the castle set if I'm feeling [s]lazy[/s] efficient enough. This remains to be seen. I haven't done the post-battle cutscene yet. It's not complicated, so I'll knock that out b...

Progress: Yes. It would take some luck (and some graphics from TwinHamster *cough cough*), but I could potentially finish Chapter 1 this weekend. Here is what's left to do: - Maps for every battle past the first - Castle tileset (ouch!) - Six cutscenes of varying complexity - Animations for the gra...
