Re: SUMMER SLAM - the next gen of ohr contest

Well, I posted my game. I thought about changing the year in the title so it wouldn't be so similar to Spoonweaver's, but Time Girl has a lot of 1998-specific stuff in it. It's hard to tell what qualities make an adventure game especially good. Hopefully this one is worth everyone's time. Thanks in ...

Time Girl 1998

For the 2021 Summer Slam Contest: In the year 2021, Judy's life is perfect. Too bad. Due to a side effect of the Y2K virus, Judy one day wakes to find herself in the year 1998, the worst year of her life. In this old school graphical adventure, it's your job to help Judy get back to her big house, c...

Re: SUMMER SLAM - the next gen of ohr contest

I did plan a providently (un)ambitious game for the contest. While I know it's not fair to change the rules for those who intend to win, I don't care if we change the deadline. I don't think the change is going to give busy people more free time and make everyone finish their games.

Re: Just started making a Zelda-type video game

This might not be the best engine if all you want to do is reskin and remap the Legend of Zelda. However, that type of game can be made with OHR. But you will have to learn the plot scripting, and program most of the action elements. At a time like this, it would be really handy to be able to search...

Re: Where should I start?

I think a lot of us started by making really basic games, figuring out how to use more advanced features later on. I don't even think the OHR had Tags back when I started using it. So making a really basic game was about the only thing that could be done. Still, by making something basic and playabl...

420: The Adventure

In 420 the protagonist is you, after school. You either smoke weed or you don't. If you do, you go on a very short adventure, and no matter what you do, it ends the same way. There's no present challenge, so it's not much of a game. Despite demonstrating a general understanding of menus and text box...

Tough Girl Gina

Lovelorn, Gina embarks on a quest to prove her toughness while saving the fairies. A little backstory: Most of my past projects were meant to be very epic, philosophical pieces. With this game, I decided to do something lighthearted: like a eurodance song. Over the past couple years I've started thi...

Re:Tags. I'm about ready to post my game.

Is there a post or a page with descriptions of the game tags that are used? My game has a lot of unique features. Most are not much to fuss over, with scripts that are tedious and specific to my own game. For now, I'm just putting in an ending and trying to fix all of the things that nag me (you kno...

I would make a zone that borders a zone yet to be unlocked. then for each step run a script like this variable (hx,hy) hx := hero x (me) hy := hero y (me) if (read zone (12,hx,hy), and, check tag(tag&...
