This is a game i'm working on right now, it's main concept is to be modular but I think i'm getting a bit off
Is this what you meant by "OFF"?
(In case you didn't, this game is called OFF, by Mortis Ghost. I think it looks a lot like yours.)

Working on portraits! I may move the textbox down a bit though. So you can still see the walkabouts.

Are you sure you don't want to just switch the text box and the portrait? That uses the space onscreen pretty efficiently, unless you're going for a certain style.

I decided that my grass tiles, while something I was proud of since doing them got me over a big hurdle in terms of maptile design, weren't really to my satisfaction so I tweaked them a fair bit:
Most other things in that screencap are still essentially placeholders, but I'm very happy with how my grasstiles ended up looking and I think I learned a lot from all the minute tweaking and side by side comparisons I did.
Look professional, I like them! It's really hard to get grass tiles right, and I think you've got it. It really removes the grid, which is impressive.

Thanks very much. Yeah, getting the whole "this is actually just a repeated square" look minimized is tough and it took me a long time.
Unfortunately, now I feel like I'm under self-imposed pressure to make other maptiles to the same standard... and that's going to take ages. Or maybe not, if I develop a better working process.
These are some images from the game I've been making to kind of teach myself how to use the OHRRPCE. Many of the area in the game are (obviously) modeled after things from other Video games, but it's good practice.
I'm aware that some of the tiles don't line up correctly, and I go back and forth on if I want to go back and try to perfect them.
I really like the dithered clouds in that last one, the shading done on them gives them more depth and overall looks nifty. I'm gonna have to give that a try when I get around to doing cloud/fog graphics for my game.
Thanks! Yeah they were just something I figured I'd try out in layering. At this point the ends don't quite line up all the time, but when they are animated, it isn't quite as noticeable.
Before I added the shading to them they did not look good at all, hahaha. I almost gave up on it. Thanks again
