The Blue Spirit, the spooky ghost that sets the events of both Walthros and Walthros: Renewal in motion.
Lobber, a secret summoned monster in the original Walthros. In Walthros: Renewal he appears as one of the spells in the game's prelude.
Genie, a summoned monster in the original Walthros, appears in the introduction to Walthros: Renewal.

I tried to redeem a lot of the juvenile stuff from Mr. Triangle's past in MTA but reimagined as vegetable enemies. All of the towns in MTSA1 were based on shapes so that's why there were different castles after specific vegetables. The notable enemy change was the carrot Kraken monster. Glad that yours are easier to present in a refined light! They look great.

Funny, the Genie summon is probably the thing I remember most from the battles in Walthros. Would have been the first RPG I'd played with summons (I hadn't played FF, CT, etc). But I don't quite remember it looked like that!
More significantly, wow, that Yuk is now horrifying. I think that's one of the biggest graphical differences of all.

Here's the world map for Walthros: Renewal's first chapter (with some placeholders) compared to the one I drew for the original Walthros in 1998. I made things more compact by cutting off the eastern part of the island, moving Salom's home town closer to the Red Shrine. The new map has one additional dungeon (Bayswater Woods) and one more town (Bayswater Village) and I dumped the teleportation building.
