Hyne halts his movement immediately. If he's not careful, he'll end up getting flanked himself. He decides to wait for the men to wander off with the bag before providing additional fire to aid the guardsmen.

The three bag-carriers rush silently past, oblivious to Hyne. They seem to be heading up the mountain.
There is nothing but trees between Hyne's position and the backs of the attackers, who are still engaged with the mounted guards.
The messy pile-up of wagons is visible across the clearing. It seems that the remainder of the wagons in the back of the procession have managed to stop, mostly by turning right into the clearing to avoid colliding with each other. The Carriage that Hyne had been riding in and the Wagon with the red wheels are both visible among them.
Hyne also spots that some of the passengers of the precession have taken up arms and are running to help the guards. The dwarven paladin that Hyne met earlier is among them.

He finally lifts his bow and aims to take fire towards the unit attacking the concession, aiming towards the cluster closer to the trees to minimize the risk of accidentally hitting a friendly.

Hit!
One of the camouflaged men takes Hyne's arrow in his shoulder, and crumples to his knees.
Almost immediately a sharp whistle sounds, and the entire pack of attackers suddenly disengage from fighting the guards, turn on the heels, and run through the trees directly towards Hyne
Yep, they are running directly at you! All of them!
It looks as if some of the guards are quick-thinking enough to give chase.

Right away his eyes' widen, "Sh-shi-! Not good!"
He makes his way into the trees, trying his best to keep his trail hidden and scattered in possible directions while he makes a retreat deeper into the trees.

Most of the camouflaged men pass to the left of Hyne, keeping just far enough inside the treeline to make horseback pursuit more difficult. They veer south, along the edge of the clearing.
One of the men however, spots Hyne, making momentary eye-contact.
The man seems to do a double-take, and then rather than running south with the rest of his comrades, he fires an arrow at Hyne before giving pursuit.
The arrow strikes Hyne's side, not piercing him, but cutting painfully and glancing aside.
As the attacker runs towards Hyne, a spear thrown by one of the guards narrowly misses the man's back.

Hyne hisses and grovels when the arrow scars his leather armor and the black jacket hiding it, achieving visible damage to his skin. Anticipating that the assailant might force him to be in close, he draws his longsword and moves out to make the first strike against him, pulling his blade towards his foe upon the weight of his movement.

Hit!
The man was rushing in as if expecting Hyne to flee, and he was caught off guard by the direct attack.
With some of his own blood splattered up on his face he falters, and glances back to see one guard and the paladin pursuing him.
He curses in a language that Hyne does not recognize, and turns and runs south after his comrades.
The guard follows the camouflaged man. The paladin, huffing and puffing from his run glances back and forth between you and the fleeing man.

Hyne quickly switches back to his bow and readies an arrow on the string, and calls out, "Another step and I'll fire!" He nods to the others to reel him in if he complies.

The man continues to run.
The arrow strikes the back of the man's head, bouncing loudly and violently off the helmet hidden under his headgear. He stumbles forward and lands on his face.
A moment later the mounted guard bears down on him, leans low, and impales him messily in passing before proceeding south to join the pursuit of the others.

The hunter almost hesitates to pursue, slowing his step for a moment. A realization flashes in his mind, but it forces him to break into a run to put himself near the dwarven knight. He comments, "Nobody told me your enemies didn't know common, or are they really that brazen?"

"Huh!" snorts the paladin. "Good question!"
He runs over to the downed man, lifts his head a bit, "Hey! You speak common? or are you really that brazen?" he shouts.
The man spits out some blood, and says "Never... Catch..." and then it seems like he is trying to laugh, but can't because he is in pain.

Hyne kneels down to listen more closely, then lifts his gaze to nod to the Paladin, "Brazen."
He props himself off of his feet into a burst of sprint into a jog to move further south and look toward the line- now a pile, of caravans toward the end of the road that direction to determine if the invaders are trying to make another pass in their attack.

It looks as if all the invaders have already vanished into the trees to the south-east.
Some of the guards are pursuing them, while others are hanging back at the edge of the clearing.
Duke Borgan is riding towards the hesitating guards, shouting something
There is too much noise and hubub in the direction of the wrecked procession to make out his exact words at this distance, although thanks to Hyne's lip-reading ability he does catch a few words: "... ... .. ........fools! .... .... king's body!..."

Despite the troops still pursuing battle, Hyne is relieved that the attackers didn't go after the civilian folks. He turns back to intersect with the Paladin and informs him, "They took the King's body north-east, up the mountain. It was three to one in addition to catching the main unit's attention, but the odds will look better if we can catch up to them before they regroup."
