Normin

"Security?" Asks Gilgamesh, looking confused and annoyed. "Security for what and from what?"

Ebald

When he gets home, Ebald tries out the spell. Having already seen how the spell failed for Normin, he holds the flower flask close to his face.

He feels a sensation of baleful dryness, and there is a wet pop. Most of the water goes on Ebald's face and shoulders, but some does indeed end up in the flask. It is still less than half full.

Ebald walks back to Marketday and finds an apothecary. The best price he can find for a Common Potion of Healing (2d4+2) is 5 gold.

DM wrote:
Ebald has no landlord or rent, but he has monthly property taxes

Ebald walks to the tax collector's office in Old Bakak. He pays his 3 gold property taxes.

Nearby he sees several bank buildings; "First Bank Of Bakak" "Flal-Shom Mutual" "Dead Kings Royal Bank"

Cece

A gnome wearing lime-and-white robes and a tiny copper medallion greets Cece warmly. "We are on our way to see Saint Buster's Shrine in the Odok Barrens, built on the very site where the Saint picked up his very first copper coin."

Another similarly garbed gnome nearby stares at the coppery scales that are peeking out of Cece's collar. "A good omen!" She whispers in awe.

Sharn

Boots looks like he wants to chat more, but when Sharn hurries away he shrugs and re-counts the money she payed him.

Petrol

After dropping off the wheelbarrow, Petrol goes to Judge Sig's office. When the Judge realizes that Petrol is carrying information, he shoes out his shorthandist, and closes the door.

Upon hearing the message, Judge Sig momentarily looks mad, but then says "Oh, wooly sideburns. I know who you mean. He must be moving up in the Climber's Guild."

"What were you doing over there anyway? Did I tell you to go there?" The Judge says this with a scowl, although it sort of seems like he genuinely can't remember whether he sent Petrol there or not.

Kailyn

Kailyn tries to remember if the Poor Quarter has its own Low-Mayor like some of the other districts do. He can't remember. He does recall the name"Spudnick Low" as being an important person in the poor quarter, but definitely not someone he had ever encountered at a party.

Kailyn spots three boys wearing shabby faded school uniforms, one Orc, one Human and one Teifling. School shouldn't be out for another hour at least, so maybe they are truants. They are running and laughing on the sidewalk.

Arcadia

The firestation is mostly bare, but Arcadia finds a clay pitcher in one of the wardrobes.

She tries the Create Water spell. Most of the water splashes on her face and hair, but a little does end up in the pitcher, maybe enough to fill a cup or two. Certainly far short of the 10 gallons it was supposed to make.

Because of her training as a cleric, she senses that the dry angry interference of the Rain God is powerful and mindless, as if the Rain God is enforcing the curse while asleep, trapped in a God's dream. Knowing this doesn't help her circumvent the curse, but it does make her wonder if the curse can be circumvented-- after all, the Magic Bucket seems to escape the Rain God's notice, doesn't it?

Evangeline

Evangeline takes the long way home-- passing by Magdalene's school. From a distance she spots Aviel, sitting in a carriage, presumably waiting to escort her little sister home.

"Oh lovely, it's that little tart..." Evangeline thinks to herself, somewhat grudgingly. However, her expression soon softens and she sighs wistfully. She did bring this on herself, after all.

Aveil was only 13 when her family fell apart. After her mother, Lady Avalon, learned of Ephraim's affair, she left completely. Ephraim stopped loving her long before, but Aveil didn't. Part of the reason why they were still together was for her sake. She's got all the right to hate Evangeline, but it didn't hurt any less to have her go out of her way to turn the estate against her. Combined with the hushed whispers of nobles speaking of a scandalous affair, she had to get out of there. Magdalene serves as a painful reminder of being young, foolish, and reckless. At the very least, she seems to be nice towards Magdalene.

Evangeline shakes her head and starts to walk away. Perhaps she won't go home right away, and wander around town.

Cece isn't sure why they're looking at her collar.. do they know I got this apron from a gnome? 'ave they mistaken me for one of their own? There's no way... that was years ago! Cece tries to keep it together.

"'ow exciteeng!" She has a million questions she'd like to ask about Saint Buster, his beliefs and followers, where they came from and what they've seen so far, but is it really the right time for that? "I was wondereeng eef you 'ad passed the Celasier Farm on your treep?" hmm... that's a little vague.. "Eet would be the one weeth the giant boys wrassleeng een the mud. "I 'aff your nose!" they would be yelleeng, but eet ees never a nose. Eet ees always a feenger." and now you sound crazy... like a woman holding a bucket of sausages.. Mondieu...

When Cece first started sending money this way, she didn't like the station. Too much audience. She'd just wait alongside the road and spring the offer out of nowhere. Sometimes she'd get mistaken for a bandit, and she never minded that. But once she got mistaken for a ghost and that she DID mind. A ghost sending money home wouldn't prove anything and might in fact make her parents think they were right and that she hadn't been able to make it! Ever since, she's always been forthright in these transactions and today is no exception.

"The reason I ask ees because I used to leeve there. I 'ave just been made an Arcane Firefighter an' thees money, she do more good at 'o.. eh, there." She holds up the whole five gp, not having set out to spend it all but feeling like she owes these guys. "Eef you goeeng that way, you take the money, you take eet there, an' you take some for you'selves too, eh? An' eef not" she shrugs "no trouble."

"As it turns out, our fire quelling tools are a little out of the ordinary- it would be a shame if the city were to burn because thieves prodded their fingers and got into our little building. Of course, I understand if you are not the right company to turn to, I am only following a voiced suggestion."

Petrol shakes his head. "I was just looking for something in the market. Truth be told, I was surprised myself when I ended up at the Climbers' guild, but the clerk there recognized that I worked for you."

"I apologize if I've overextended myself." Petrol notices the anger on the judge's face, guessing that he might've gotten himself involved in something that the judge wanted to keep him out of.

Evangeline

Evangeline avoids walking past Aveil's carriage. Instead she wanders randomly into Old Bakak, and among the tall old quarrystone buildings.

Eventually, she reaches the Mayor's park, a lovely area of rare trees and grass, cut by stone paths. Located beside the High Mayor's Palace

She walks past the central square where honorable executions are conducted for Mayor's and judges, and other death-bound noble offices (dishonorable executions for criminals happens away off in the desert) but nothing is happening here today except a bunch of children playing kick-the-ball.

Evangeline continues to a place where there are benches under the trees.

It probably isn't really random that she came to the park. This is the one place she gets to see Magdalene, but that is on Wednesday, and today is Monday

Cece

The Busterites seem deeply moved "We would be honored to take the first-copper of each of your coins, and deliver unto your family the remainder"

Although none of them know of the location of the Celasier farm, they describe the route they are taking to the Odok Barrens, and it does sound like they are going in the correct direction.

They demand that she repeatedly demonstrate the "got your nose" trick so that they will be able to accurately identify her brothers, and they seem way too excited when they learn to do it, and begin practicing it on each other.

Normin

"Your fire quelling tools?" Asks the assistant Headmaster, his annoyance giving way to curiosity "Is this something of a magical artifact in nature?"

Petrol

Judge Sig looks thoughtful. After a moment he says, "Alright, tell you what, young fellow. Stop by the Climbing shop a few more times this week. See if Ol' Sideburns has any stories to share, and if he does, come back and tell me everything he says."

Normin emits a muffled hum of a chuckle from under his headwear, "Such an oddly specific assumption under a zone of truth, headmaster. So you already know it's more than merely a 'device'. No matter, it wouldn't be much of a secret for long anyhow."

Normin

"What are you implying?" Asks the Assistant Headmaster, indignant. "I have never been so insulted in m--GRRRK" he shudders as the Zone of Truth prevents him from completing the exaggeration.

"I don't know anything about your artifacts!" He shouts, then he points to the sky "See!? I don't know about your magic stone artifacts, I just know you have them, making them wasn't my department." He says this last bit smugly, as if the whole point of the Truth spell had been to prove this.

And having regained his composure, he adds, "I am sure we can arrange for safe storage of all your magic items here at the University."

Cece

"Oh Noble Saint Buster! Deified Patron Saint Of Finding-A-Copper-On-The-Ground-And-Then-Later-That-Coin-Makes-All-The-Difference" the Busterites gladly regale Cece with tales of Saint Buster and his many small windfalls.

They give her a copy of a 2-page tract titled "Maybe You Were Meant To Find That Copper"

"The metal pail that overflows with water," he corrects with little hesitation as to what he's revealing, "Perhaps you don't know the one after all, but our headquarters aren't quite adequate to ward even the child thieves. If you know about the alarm stones, perhaps you know someone that could craft an.. extension to the system, so to speak, hm?"

"Yes sir, leave it to me!" Petrol needed to go back to the Climbing Store the next day to ask about the grappling hook, and seemed pleased that he'd be able to kill two birds with one stone.

Assistant Headmaster Pugeot Gilgamesh ponders the question, "Well, I could ask the Applied Magic Department Chair to get in contact with you. They made your stones-- but really, if you want to keep this magic bucket of yours safe, you should bring it here to the University. The Research and Arcanalysis department has excellent secure storage facilities. I guarantee that nobody would be able to get at it there."

Petrol

"Good. Knew I could count on you young man" says Judge Sig with a smile. "Now get out of my office, I have work to do!"

Sharn

Sharn explores the Headquarters, searching for a private area. She finds a few possibilities.

The horse stalls are pretty private, but the have a big gap at the bottom of the doors. Whoever vacated this building before it became the Arcane Firefighters building left them pretty clean.

There are four large wardrobes in the left bunkrooms, and five in the right bunkroom. They are not big enough to lay down comfortably, but pushed together they could easily partition off a corner of one of the bunkrooms. If she did it on the side with the windows, she could even enclose a pair of the hammock hooks.

There are two washrooms. Why would a building need two? Everybody else can just use the toilet in the other one. The door locks too!

He rubs his chin, "I appreciate the offer, but I'm afraid that we must be able to use the artifact with frequency and be able to retrieve it quickly. Flames are an irritable wench, ill patient to wait the added travel."

While storing the bucket in the more secure premises would solve the immediate problem, it would only add additional ones.

"May you point out the location of the Applied Magic Department? I would like to speak to them next."
