"Oh, yes, I am absolutely a flirt, but your honor is safe with me, my lady." Kailyn then winks, "Unless, of course, you and your husband wish to leave said honor with me, then I would hardly object. The three of us could teach each other new things should you wish." With that, he gives her a final wink and sparkling grin before grabbing a sausage bucket and heading on upstairs.

Near the top of the stairs, he points a sausage at the door, causing it to swing open for a grand entrance. "Cheers to the Sausage Buckets, for we return victorious!"

He bows to Lady Kari, a gracious and flamboyant move offset only by the sausage he holds in one hand. "My lady, we have arrived, and are ready for further instructions."

Upon arriving at the Unlucky Thrush, Arcadia is glad to see more buckets. She takes one and peers inside it…great, more sausages …but her stomach growls at the sight. Beggars can't be choosers! She grabs one of the buckets and heads up to the room with Lady Kari, glad to be rid of the noise in the tavern. Hungry and ready to eat, Arcadia finds a table to sit down and starts to devour the sausages. In a lady-like way of course; she was a noble and had to behave like one, at least in the company of others.

Caldon feels that the feast is at least a little undeserved, but he fills up anyway. This portends much less pleasant work to come.

Normin is the first to follow Lady Kari upstairs. They sit at the table.

"Provincial gave me a good report of your work today. You all improvised well, and worked together, making the best of what resources you had."

She takes out a single large key with a small card tied to it. The card has an address written on it. The address is on Bad Noodle Lane in the Poor Quarter

"This is the key to the headquarters of the Guild of Arcane Firefighters"

"Make use of it however you feel is best... just don't burn it down." She winks.

Other party members begin to filter upstairs.

"You will find some more magical items called 'Alarmstones' in the headquarters, along with instructions on how to use them. They will provide a way to let you know when a fire is happening."

As each firefighter comes upstairs, Lady Kari gives each of them their 5 gold for the day.

"From now on, my only role in the Guild of Arcane Firefighters will be as financial officer." she explains.

Arcadia finds the sausages delicious, and much easier to eat in a ladylike fashion after one of Ms Zest's daughters brings her a place setting and knife and fork.

Bobo is conspicuously absent. When Lady Kari asks after him, and nobody has seen him since the test at the Smokefields, she says "Well, when any of you see him, send him to me. Even if he has decided to quit the Guild, he still gets payed for today."

Downstairs, Ms Zest leans into the kitchen, and tells her husbands "Count Kailyn thinks he can teach us a thing or two!" Both men laugh jovially and go back to their cooking.

The concealed gnome accepts the key and address and slips it under his hat for safe keeping. While he is still alone with Kari, he admits, "Your patronage is appreciated; this is most I've felt invested in a job, a shame I won't get to wallow in self-pity and afford to coin away my good senses as much as I would before," he chuckles.

"I see that is the catch," he notes, "we were paid a hefty amount because our involvement is infrequent.. unless fires happen so often we may as well turn the whole city upside down and preach doom."

"Speaking of hefty amounts, this bucket will not be safe idling, even if it is watched over at the station. How do you, or your higher order, plan on addressing this issue?"

Kari thinks about Normin's question "The bucket isn't common knowledge... yet"

"If you decide you need extra help keeping it safe, perhaps you can seek help from The Executioner's Guild or from the University of Bakak leadership"

After playing with the children some more, the affects of the potion begin to wear off. Sharn both looked forward to and dreaded these moments of clarity. She could think with a clear head, which was not common for her. However, such clarity often reminded her of her situation, while embarrassing memories filled her head.

Sharn did her best to politely excuse herself from the children. She made no promises to see them again. She knew she was too dangerous to be around children. At the same time, Sharn thought back to her home. If she were still living back there, she would be of age to start having her own children. Sharn wondered if her chaotic life would ever afford her normal pleasures like motherhood or family.

Sharn shook the stray notions out of her head. She had precious little time before her head would be a cloud of nonsense again and she had things to do. Hopefully she was still going to be paid for all of this.

On her way back to the tavern, Sharn checked her compenant pouch and went through her satchel. Seeing nothing had been lost or broken in the shuffle, Sharn takes out the fire cloak from her satchel. She does her best to dust off the bread crumbs, sausage grease and fruit juice before putting it on. Even with mess it was still a good deal cleaner then the rest of her outfit. Then she began going through the food in her satchel. She ate or dropped anything that looked like it might spoil and further secured anything that seemed likely to keep for a few days, chalking them up as rations.

Once at the Unlucky Thrush, Sharn keeps mostly to herself. Upon finding out the buckets of food are for all of them, she gathers as much of the wax covered cheese as she politely can.
After a moment or two of this, Sharn decides she needs to find out about the payment but isn't sure who to ask. Who of these people would remember her. Who would be polite enough to answer. Sharn took a good long while to dust herself off, fix her hair, and rub off any dirt smudges before approaching.
"Excuse me, Lady Acardia," Sharn asked. "Do you happen to know how and when we might be paid."

"I am literally manhandling an invaluable artifact that could single handedly bring never ending prosperity to even the most dilapidated sink hole. I've not visited the University of Bakak, but consider your finances and if possible send a message that I wish to visit on this matter. I'm sure one of the others would be friendlier with a group named 'Executioners' than I would, humhm."

By now the others should be able to hear the conversation, he's not exactly keeping it secret, he just happened to be in early.

"Nobody is friendlier than the Guild of Executioners" says Lady Kari, "...but I understand their name and their history is off-putting. I will talk to the Mayor about arranging some extra security for the bucket, I am sure she will be able to provide something."

"Hah, it is not the grim nature of the name, it is the brutish nature behind it. I'm not a gnome of blunt bravado like those rumblebuckers or whatever they claim, one of the other firefighters are better fit to get along."

Arcadia was nearly full when she heard a familiar voice. She had been there to know that Lady Kari was the person to go to for payment. But Arcadia was in no rush. When Sharn inquired about it, though, she simply told her "Lady Kari" before getting up, bucket in tow, and approached the woman.

Lady Kari smiles warmly when she sees Arcadia.

As she gives Arcadia her 5 gold, she says "I am so happy that there is someone on the team who has healing skills." and then a little more soberly she adds, "next time, the victims won't be made of wax."

If Kari's smile had been warm for Arcadia, it is practically glowing when she speaks to Sharn.

As she gives the 5 gold, she says "I heard how you played with the children at the test. You certainly have a kind soul! Being able to deal with children amidst traumatic emergency situations is an important ability."

Sharn's embarrassment is overwhelming. She only managed a chuckle as she received the gold. She turned to leave but stopped herself.
You can do it Sharn, she told herself in her head.
Sharn turned back towards Kari and blurted out a line of questions without pausing, "Will you be paying this to me everyday? How will we stay in contact? How will we know if there is a fire?" Sharn stopped herself before asking another question. She could tell she was being rude in her questioning.

"I 'ad wondered 'ow we would find the fires.." Cece says, mentally disposing of a plan to hire a network of urchins and bums to watch for smoke. "An' a 'eadquarters? I 'ad wondered 'ow to keep thees safe.." a fancy helmet and cloak in the dumpster would be a big target. But the reality is starting to sink in... "Steell.. A place to leeve.. being ready, always.. thees ees a beeg responsibility, yes?" She's starting to feel ashamed of that beer..

Kailyn graciously accepts the five gold pieces and says, "That it's most excellent! I propose that after we are done here, we retire to our homes. But tomorrow, we should all meet at these headquarters to discuss our plans and organize ourselves."

To Lady Kari he says, "My lovely, I know you've given us much, but might I presume to ask for more? Certainly, we can move well enough on our own, but we could respond to threats faster if we had a few horses and carts or carriages. I ask this not for us, but for the greater safety of the city. The quicker we are able to respond to these threats, the better off the city shall be as a whole."

To the others, he says, "While our headquarters is in the Poor Quarter, I do suggest that we have at least a few other gathering areas where we can strike out from. I live in the Temple District, and I live alone. I could certainly take a few more to, how shall I say it, bunk together so that we can be ready for anything that should happen."
