Kailyn bows with a great flourish, never taking his eyes of Caldon. "Why, of course, my friend. For I, Baron Kailyn Kandel, am the very image of scruples, modesty, and goodness."
He then removes his mace from the loop on his belt, and offers it to Caldon, grip first.
"As a sign of good faith, and of my sincerity, I offer you this, my most prized possession. Consider it evidence that I have no desire to steal anything and have no ill intentions. This mace was my father's, who was a righteous crusader against evil and tyranny. He gave this to me years ago, after he succumbed to the wounds he received while fighting a pair of trolls who were terrorizing a village. I will never forget his face as I cradled his broken figure in my arms, he handed me this mace and told me, 'Kailyn, be a better man than I was.' and you have my absolute word that I have done all I can to live up to his dying wish."
He grabs Caldon's hand, places it around the mace's handle and hold's the nobleman's hand in his. "And on this, my father's weapon of divine justice, I swear that I will be an ally in this endeavor, both to you and to the good name of the city and all it stands for."
He releases Caldon's hand and then embraces the man in a tight bear hug. He releases him and says, "And now we are brothers."
He then moves aside and takes Evangeline's hand. He bows down and kisses her hand before looking her in the eye to answer: "And in answer to your question, my fair maiden, you too are my brothers and sisters in fire. We may have walked different paths, but the fact that we are all here together shows that we have faced similar trials in life. And blood may bind tightly, but the bonds of hardship are stronger steel than any iron found in our veins. As I know you all have your own sufferings, as I have mine, I know that we are passengers together upon this ship known as life, and like any good comrade at sea I would do all I can for you." He says the last part looking directly into Evangeline's eyes.
His face turns to Lady Kari and becomes the mask of sincerity and honesty as he says, "So you will know by my oath, that despite whatever foppishness you may see in me, I am sincere in this, as I am sincere in seeing only the best for my kin."

"Goodness..." Evangeline says, with a strained smile "Though you seem not a musician, you've certainly struck a chord within me. I only wish I could be as much of an idealist as you are, kind Baron."
Exuding an air of wealth, bright eyed and full of charm and fervor...a fair mark to keep an eye on.
"When will we depart for the smokefields?" She says, looking around the room, and then to Kailyn.

Cece's clap seems to energize Bobo. "Come friends! Grab your buckets and clown clothes! We defeat this test now!"
Bobo points toward Cece. "Nice hardworking lady here knows route! Beat feet now!" Since people still seem to be milling pointlessly around, he mutters "Fire gonna kill these lazy chumps. Life's tough. I won't feel bad."

"I'll be the next to say I've no interest in stealing mystic trinkets for myself," he informs, much more curtly and with far less elegance, "I've not the fingers for it, I've a rusted tongue ill fit to barter it away, and I deem the curse of men chasing me afoul heavier than its reward."
He rubs his chin a second, "But you would blindly trust me anyhow, wouldn't you? Well then, don't err should the tin cauldron become lost. Consider us a costly liability."

The Rumbleback player stands, picking her teeth.
She addresses Lady Kari. "Sorry I didn't introduce myself earlier. Name's Ursula. I'll be happy to take your money."
"I'll meet the rest of you in the Smokefields. I have an errand to run first." Says Ursula. She leaves the room, slapping Kailyn on the butt on the way out.

"Very well, onwards then!" Kailyn says as he strikes a pose, pointing towards the door.
He looks at the items, then says, "I will not take any of these for myself, and instead will entrust them to my brothers and sisters. But I would like one of those helms for..." he turns to the orc lady he recruited, "I am so sorry, my love, I never got your name?"

Sharn goes to take the bucket after a moment of waiting for someone else to take it. She'll eye everyone dangerously as she walks off with it, she decides. "I guess we're suppose to go now," she said, changing the subject.
A magical bucket of endless water. Priceless is what they said. Think of all the lesser polymorph potions she could buy with that. Maybe even a true polymorph potion. ...And some hothead. It wasn't stealing, she told herself. They were giving this stuff away. It was stupid of them to trust her.
Stupid of them to trust her, she said to herself again. She decided, even if they were all being buttered up to be eaten, she would see this through a bit longer. Taking what she got so far and making a break for it never left her mind however.

It will take about 20-25 minutes to walk from here to the Smokefields, so all of you have time to run brief errands on the way if you wish.
Seeing this as a good opportunity to unload some of the extra items in his pack, Rasvim ducks back to his hovel and unloads some unnecessary (and flammable) weight.

Petrol seems a bit disappointed that there's nothing unusual about the helmets, but shrugs and puts one on anyways. Uncle's always said that the more tools a thief has in his kit, the better.
He would sigh a bit at Kailyn's display. "Look here, friend. I'm sure you mean well, but with such a valuable artifact at stake, it would be foolish for any of us to trust each other on faith alone. All of us have to be constantly vigilant if we want to keep the bucket safe. We should pick one person to hold the bucket, and the rest of us will keep a close watch on him as we head towards our destination."
Noticing Sharn take the bucket, Petrol would try to block off her path. "And I suggest that whomever is chosen to hold the bucket should be restrained in some way, to ensure that they have no chance to run off with the artifact."

"I have no qualms against Sharn taking the bucket." Evangeline states. "Though if it really knots your knickers that much, I'll volunteer to take the bucket. I swear by my violin that I wouldn't run off with the artifact."
And anyone who even hopes of making off with that thing is foolish. There's no possible way to make a clean getaway.

Kailyn makes a show of slapping his forehead, then says, "But of course, you are right, my fine friend. We have all suffered, and there can be temptation and tribulation along the way that might get the better of us. I do not doubt the honor and truthfulness of any of us here, but there may very well be dark times ahead that can get the better of even the best of us."
He strokes his goatee before saying. "What if... What if we organize ourselves into groups of three, with one group, the bucket group, containing four people. Each group should have an appointed representative, a sergeant of you will. It'll make organizing things easier, both for us and for our beautiful sponsor over there. It would also help us avoid losing any of these artifacts which will be so useful in helping our fair city. What say the rest of you?"
