Oh I'm not dropping out. I am up to my nose in finals but those are over in a week. And I might be running ohr from a flash drive, I just haven't gotten around to it.
I am still stupidly optimistic about my entry. It's all I can be if I expect it to get anywhere. The only thing I will say is the the artwork will almost certainly be unfinished/unpolished. I hate making artwork.
Cheers to everyone else, though. Tacobot, if you've got 30 minutes of a game already, then if you haven't finished by the end of the contest, slap an ending on that sucker and call it finished. Don't throw away something you've made just because you don't think you'll ever work on it again. A short game can be a great game, there's nothing wrong with that.
My pronouns are they/them
Ps. I love my wife
Alright, I've decided. I'm entering my game "Grapnes 2: Kepnalcide" (name subject to change I think) in the contest. There's a version up on Game Jolt here, but it isn't up to date and I plan to add more content and restructure most of the story by the end of July.
Also I have someone helping me with the soundtrack, and I was wondering what the rules would be regarding them voting. Can they not vote at all, or just on games besides mine, or can they vote on anything they want?

You sure know how to sell a game! GameJolt seems like a nice place to host a game? Looks like the set of games you've hosted there is disjoint with the set you've hosted here, for some reason. Oh, so you know Spheroidal Defence? I see that he made the first Grapnes, is he involved with Grapnes 2?

Aw, shucks...

Yeah, I've used Game Jolt for hosting all my games, and here for hosting just my OHR games (With the exception of lil joke games, of which there are enough here).

Yeah, he's a good friend of mine. And he is in fact involved with Grapnes 2. He's helping me with the plot (since he's an excellent writer and my current plot is weaker than a cup of Lipton tea).

They have to vote on the winner.
Just kidding, yeah, the rules are very lax about most things. I tend to trust people to do the right thing based on common etiquette.
That said, I don't want people coming in from off the street just to vote on their friend's game (and no one else's). I don't usually disregard anyone's vote, even those who vote for only a handful of games, but I do make adjustments to things as the need calls for them, so if your musician were to vote on your game, I'd appreciate it if he or she voted on at least a few others, if not all of them.
And in case it's not clear, Heart of the OHR doesn't use a top ten list for voting. It's score-based. I set it up this way so that you don't have to play all of the games (even though you really should), but it gives an accurate opinion on what you think of the games you do play. If your musician votes only for your game, then it won't affect the overall ranking of yours or other people's games too much, as the scores are based on averages. But it's still rude to the other contestants to disregard them. So, I won't likely throw out the vote if its rooted in favoritism, but if it somehow becomes part of an abused system (where many voters are voting on just one or two games), then I will.
Hope that makes sense.

Did I already promise to give a prize?
According to the prize list:

So, er, yeah.

Can I enter a game even if I am giving a prize?
We're ex-communicating you from Slime Salad if you don't enter.
Just kidding. Yes, anyone can enter. Everyone should. I like the vast majority of your games, so I'd personally like to see you enter just so I can play another one of your new titles. But that's up to you. Deadline for getting inside the release window is July 31, and the window is closing fast, so you'll have to hurry now. But yeah, I hope you do.
I'd like to see most everyone enter. I prefer a contest that has at least eight entries, so the more that participate, the more likely we'll hit that preferred minimum.

Due to a lack of recent motivation, I'm not sure I'll be able to finish the game in time for the contest. However, rest assured I will finish it soon, and I urge you to play it in its current state! I've updated it a lot in the past week.
Is this a game you've publicly uploaded or updated since March 1st? If so, you may already be entered. Or are you just letting us know your entry may not have the ending you want? If that's the case, don't worry about it. Just make sure you have some signal that lets the player know there isn't much else to do in the game in its current state.
Keep up the good work, folks. We've got just over seven weeks left. If you've been procrastinating, now's a good time to stop that and get to work. Scale back your lofty ideas for now if you have to. Hope to see your entries soon.
And don't forget to let us know in this thread when you've posted a game you intend for the Heart of the OHR. It makes it easier for me to track them if I know they're out there.

You can do it! I played your game just the other day and I've gotta say it was pretty good! I like your pixel art style and you've got a good sense of humour. Anyway, as Pepsi Ranger said, you've got 7+ weeks to finish it. Even if you only put a couple hours of work into it each week, you'll be able to finish.

I have indeed! Don't worry, I'm still entered. Like you said, it just may not have the ideal ending so far.
Is there any chance we could extend the deadline by a couple of weeks maybe? I'm working insanely hard to get my finished game ready in time for this contest and I'm kind of worried I won't have enough time.
Check out Red Triangle Games!

I've decided to postpone an entire town+dungeon segment for after the deadline, and just focus on the other parts of the starting area of the game. It'll still make for well over half an hour of play, so I guess it's still valid for the contest. This is the only way I can make sure that what's there is well fleshed out.
