I miraculously completed something that is technically a game. You can't beat it, but you can shoot the Kraken, and even your own crew members.

I uh, I hopefully will fix this a bit later, but hey, I made it playable by the deadline, and that's what counts, right?

Won't actually be entering since when I sat down to work on my idea I wasn't actually having fun making it. But hopefully I scared an extra day of labor into ol' Giz.
I kinda fell into this trap early on--as soon as it came time to draw it (the lack of fun, not the scaring Giz). I like the concept I've come up with, and I hope to revisit it when I have fewer things harassing my attention, but the only fun part for me was writing and conceptualizing it. Visualizing it, not so much. I've run into the same exact problem with drawing Monster out of Six several years ago. I'm beginning to think I don't like the OHR's current default master palette, or I'm so used to working out of the old one that I've never really appreciated the new one. I don't know. I just know that this is the third game I've started with the current palette, and they've all hit roadblocks after the first few days of production. In all cases, I hate drawing them, but I still enjoy drawing in my other games.
Plus, I really need to wrap up my older projects before I get sucked into yet another dark alley of game design. But Rule #4 was a cool idea that needed prodding. I don't regret at least giving the game some thoughtful planning.
I say all this to say that Stomach My Pal will be finished and released someday, but not today. And its timing promises to be inappropriate.
And my future games will probably have to come out of the old master palette.

I tried this out and enjoyed it. The intro was funny and the shooting style was pretty neat. One thing I suggest is making the kraken shoot something at you. If the krakens shot hits the screen then maybe it flashes or cracks or something... Also maybe a fast cannon movement speed or something like that. Asides from that it was good and could probably be something that could be expanded in to a full length game the way I imagine it.

My game is... well, it's not finished, but if I trimmed out the handful of options that let you reach the beginnings of unfinished branches to its story it would definitely look a lot like a (fairly short) finished game.
In other words: I had planned on three main branches that would each lead to their own "good" ending, and one of those is done.
Here's its game page, just for the sake of having a link in this thread.

That was awesome. I think it might possibly be my favourite.
