OHRRPGCE RANDOM COLLAB CONTEST 2015 (POSTPONED)

Are you free between Feb. 1 and Feb. 15? Do you feel like you could help someone make an amazing O.H.R.RPG.C.E. game? Do you like game development contests that last for about a week?
Then you should join the Official OHR Random Collab Contest.(no longer colab)

The ohrrpgce random collab contest was started to help game developers find partners. Games need a lot of different skills to create. It's rare for one person to have them all. Even rarer still to be great at everything required to make a game. So teaming up just makes sense. Artists need coders. Mechanic designers need story writers. We all need somebody. Let's hope this contest helps some people find each other.

To enter, sign up here. On February 1st, 2015 you will be paired up with another developer. Together, you and your contest partner will make an original game with the OHRRPGCE. You have until the 15th to make it. Then the games will be voted on by the general OHR public until the end of February. The winners will be announced shortly after that.

The contest is free to enter and offers no prizes.

CURRENT CONTESTANTS:
none right now.

This contest has been postponed until later this year. Look for it around summer time.

Put me down as a "maybe" as well. I don't imagine I'll be able to devote too much time to this, but who knows.

Perhaps I could provide graphics for a very, very short game. V

Ok. I do suggest that anyone not able to devote too much time to this contest, thinking hard about your entry because your partner may be looking for more than just a mild amount of team work.

I kind of want to do this, and probably have the time. But, I'm lacking in the skills department, and would feel badly for whomever got stuck with me V

This made me giggle. V

On Topic: I don't think I would be able to enter, due to the last stretch of the contest being near my birthday (Feb 11th) and I'd likely wanna be spending time with my family at that point.

I'm sorry, are you saying you ARE joining? Are you asking if you can? What are you saying?
I put you down as having entered.

I said I wasn't 100% sure. Though I'm leaning towards not being able to.

Besides, I doubt anyone would want to work with me anyway. Considering my game release track record.

That's half the fun of the contest though, is people gettin a chance to prove themselves. So long as you can show up on time and do some work, there's no reason not to enter regardless of your skill level or the quality of your recent releases.

If the goal was to make a "good game" there wuldn't need to be a contest. People could just team-up. But nobody teams up 'cause we all hate each other, so we need a contest to force our hands. Can't wait to see the promising demos this contest will churn out (that will never be finished or followed-up upon).

The only thing you need to be good at in this contest is showing up and being available for the full length of the contest. As long as you can do SOMETHING, your partner will be happy with that even if the quality is low. The key here is to make dang sure your TIME is available, don't worry about your skills.

If the contest start date draws near and you find your schedule too busy to do anything then do everyone a favor and withdraw BEFORE the contest starts. Ain't no fun for your poor partner to get stuck with an automatic withdraw (not to mention days of suspense of wondering whether you'll even show up). And put the dang start date on your calendar! Be available on the FIRST DAY for meet ups! After that first meeting there's more wiggle room for when you get together, but be sure to be there on the first day so your partner knows what to expect from you and when you can discuss further. For that matter you might consider putting your contact info here in the sign up threads so your partner can find you more easily in case you forget.

Other than that, good luck and have fun.

In thinking about this further, I'm going to be withdrawing myself from this contest. I have been using an satellite ISP which employs bandwidth limitations, and is frankly not very reliable (It's pretty much all that's available here)

Though I do have the time to do this event, the chances are better than not that the quality of my internet service would prevent me from communicating effectively with a partner, sending/receiving data, or files, skyping or chatting, etc, and working under a deadline is something to which an effective commitment cannot be made on my part.

Sorry Sad

Sorry to hear that Urkel, but you could easily just converse with your partner over a series of PM's. I'll put you and Spark down as maybes.
