"You have my gratitude."

Kalar is very pleased with this loot. He puts on the gauntlet and uses it to store the jeweled dagger, ready to spring to his hand and be thrown. The bracelet he places on John's wrist, hoping it will improve the ghoul's abilities some. The potions go into his potion carrying case, with whatever's left over going into his pack.

He takes his bedroll and assorted linen from his pack. Using his new dagger, he cuts things up and ties things together to make a very crude carrying case. This, he hands to Kretivuslar so that he can carry things around while keeping his arms and hands free. The rest of the items go into Kretivuslar's pack.

That done, he eyes the sword. It would most certainly be useful in their travels, and if it's been talking to Charles, then it might have some information about this place. It would at least save on trips back here.

Kalar tries his had at diplomacy, "Charles, my friend, if that sword is giving you such trouble, and I know how these things can be, I could take him off your hands for you. It would help you to help us end this madness, and you would no longer have to put up with it. Moreover, we would bother you less often, allowing you to continue your studies in peace, while safe in the knowledge that you've helped us as you said you would. What say you?"

In the morning, Tammytharn feels rested. After Kalar leaves, she sits and tries to make conversation with Galse about food. She doesn't know cooking, but she does know eating, so maybe that is common ground?

Updating Tammytharn to Level 6 (I love how she got so much experience for doing so little work. Sitting on a table keeping comatose Thistlewhistle company is serious work!)

I got very unlucky HP rolls, so her HP only goes up by 3.

She gets 6 skill points. I put them evenly into Knowledge:Religion and Knolwedge:Arcana

For her level 6 feat I chose "Spell Focus (Conjuration)". I understand that means "Add +1 to the Difficulty Class for all saving throws against spells from the school of magic you select. " but am I supposed to write that +1 somewhere on my character sheet?

I also read more about Clerics, and now understand that thanks to spontaneous casting of healing spells, I don't really ever need to bother preparing a healing spell on my character sheet, I just need to specify which prepared spell I am giving up if I cast a healing spell in its place :)

Does that apply to my healing domain bonus spells too? Can I prepare my Knowledge domain bonus spells, and give them up for the healing domain bonus spells if I want too? I didn't see anything that said I can't. EDIT: okay, I can't do that with healing domain spells

Tammytharn asks the others if any of them would be willing to show her the way to the key floating in acid that they have mentioned. She would like to see it for herself, and perhaps she can help think of a way to get it.

Charles looks at his sword and then back at Kalar.
"I'll consider it. Maybe you can do something for me. There's a few books in the main library I'd like you to bring me. If you can do that I'll sell you the sword over there for, o... I dunno, 25,000 gold."
With that Charles begins to write a list of books. "Oh I cant forget that one!"

Meanwhile, Tammytharn finds that the acid pool with the key in it is very close by. She makes her way over there with Gontort's guidance and now stands in the room looking at the shallow pool, of what she's been told is acid, with a key in it.

Charles hands Kalar the list. It has a baker's dozen of book titles on it. "Just bring me those books from the main library and the sword is as good as yours. Oh, that and the money."

Tammytharn uses her Mage's hand to try and levitate the key out of the acid. She tries first focusing on the protective (glass?) bubble that holding the key, figuring it may be less magical than the key. If that fails, she will try focusing on the key itself.

"Easy does it..." she mumbles to herself. She is concentrating and going slowly. She does not want to risk cracking the bubble, for fear of letting the key drop.

If the mage's hand is completely unsuccessful at moving the key, she will at least have learned that both the bubble and the key are magical in a way that prevents the mage hand from operating on them.

"Very well, you have yourself a deal, my friend."

Kalar takes the list and leaves the room. Along the way, he spots Madeline's body. He considers this, and has John drag the body along as they head for the rest of the party.

Once in the alchemical lab, Kalar looks around, he'd much rather not have to deal with Tammytharn right now. Seeing that she's not there, he speaks with Lynda.

"Lynda, my dear, I believe this sword will suit you much better than it will me." With that, he hands Lynda the rapier from the ghoul's loot.

"I'll be back in a bit, I have a few things to take care of first."

Kalar heads for the cells. Once there, he orders Kretivuslar to drag the corpse of the painter along. With the body in tow, he heads for the room of the tentacled creature. He has Kretivuslar lay the body down on the floor.

"Right, you two. I'm sure you're hungry. I'm going to need these bodies, but that tentacled beast is all yours to eat if you want it. I don't need its flesh, the bones are the only thing I'll need."

Kalar takes some black onyxes from his pouch, and places them in the mouths of the three bodies. Gathering his abilities, he focuses his divine powers and channels the power of undeath into the three bodies, raising them as magically strengthened skeletons.

Kalar just barely manages to suppress more maniacal laughter at the sight of his new minions. He orders John to head to the room with the cauldrons and to retrieve the weapons, preferably the longer ones, of the warforged. He'll then distribute them among two of the skeletons.

The magehand manages to get the glass bubble, along with the key, out of the acid pool just fine. Tammy is surprised at how easy that was and chuckles on the inside at how much trouble the others seemed to have.

Kalar begins raising skeletons. The ghouls look at him after a while and explain, "We only eat bone marrow." The skeletons take a while to peel the flesh off their bones.

Very pleased with herself, Tammytharn levetates the glass bubble all the way back to the room where the others are resting. She places it on the table near Thistlewhistle.

"One more silver key. Someone else can have the fun of breaking the glass bubble"

She then glances at Gontort, and levitates the glass bubble to the furthest table away from everyone else, to minimize the risk of glass shards.

"Would any of you be willing to escort me to the room where there was a demon claiming to be a member of the Clover family?" she says to anyone listening.

Gontort smiles widely. "I'll do both." With a huge whack, Gontort smashes the glass bubble with the side of his axe. Then walks off without cleaning it or even getting the key.

Gontort leads Tammytharn to the demon circle room and opens the door.
The demon stands there looking at Tammytharn. "So, someone else this time. Just let me out or send me back, I grow tired of all this."

Tammytharn steps up to the outer edge of the summoning circle. She casts "Zone of Truth"

"Are you really a transformed human? Do you intend to harm me after I release you?"

The demon looks at Tammytharn, and then looks around itself as if examining the spell.
"So, that's how it is then. Ok, you got me, I'm a demon. Now, I can promise you that I won't attack you the moment you let me out. I can promise to help you in a large number of ways. If you let me out, I'll basically promise you anything you'd like. I'm sure I have information you'd like to gain. If you let me out, I can promise to answer your questions."

Tammytharn nods quickly. Tammytharn pays close attention to her own spell. She wants to be aware of the moment that it expires, and further conversation becomes useless.

She thinks for a brief second, and then asks "Can you be trusted to keep your promises?"

Tammytharn wrinkles her brow for just a moment. Then she laughs.

"That sounds about as expected. Goodbye! Let's go Gontort".

Tammytharn leads the dwarf out of the room and recloses the door.

"Can't trust that one. Not one INCH"

As soon as John returns with the crude warforged weapons, Kalar distributes them. Madeline the skeleton receives the spear while Painter and Skully both receive swords.

His minions armed and ready, Kalar starts to head back to the rest of the party. Then he stops for a moment and thinks. Lynda mentioned a treasure room? That place would certainly have enough in gems and jewels to pay Charles for the sword...

He heads for the room that Lynda mentioned, not bothering to find another party member to come with him now that he's surrounded by minions.

Once at the room, he has John open the door and look inside, scouting around for any dangers.

Everyone watches as Kalar marches through the lab and into hallway with his new skeletons. Seeing the one with it's head cracked open, it doesn't take long to piece together that Kalar has raised Francis Gushmon, their old caravan partner, as a skeleton. Some of them hope that's not what happened, others don't care.

As Kalar arrives at the treasure room, he opens it to see a large mound of gold and other items.
