(Kalar listen check)
He does indeed hear another moan, though smaller.
Kalar ponders this. So positive energy affects the demon? Then getting rid of it just might be possible. Unfortunately though, he's exhausted his healing abilities for the day. If he survives the night, he'll be sure to attempt a more powerful healing the next day.
In the meantime though, Kalar enters the room cautiously. He goes up to the body and uses his medical know-how to examine the body.

Rachelle walks into the room and looks at the strapped-up man with disgust, and a bit of confusion. Had they interrupted something that creature had been doing? And why did it need all those brains?
She rummages through the pile of weapons to see if there was anything worth getting; assuming not, she'll return to the main room, staying far away from the small doors in the corridor, which she now had a really bad feeling about.

Rachelle finds a really well made sword that she recognizes to be Francis'. He had said it was magic. After finding it she then looks around a bit and finds his shield too which he also said was magical. She also finds a quiver of arrows she thinks might have been owned by Daufer, a half-orc from their original party. She had mention this quiver was also magical.
Kalar looks the body over. The body looks to be completely untouched aside from his head being cracked open. He's pretty sure this was the awful sound they heard before the fight with that thing.

"Hmm..."
"Well, he's freshly dead. Chances are if we had been a few minutes earlier, we might have been able to help this man. Unfortunate."
Of course, it's not so much out of empathy for the man but more out of regret at the loss of a potential asset.
Kalar ponders a moment. If the body is freshly dead, he could potentially collect blood from it. Seeing as how strange this place is, it might be a worthwhile investment. He takes another glass flask from his pack and uses his medical skills to collect as much blood as he can.
Once that's done, he will take his turn at looking around the room, keeping an eye out for any medical or alchemical supplies that might prove useful. He'll pick up the surgical tools and bundle them together using cloth taken from the dead man's clothes. He will also search through the pile for anything the others might have missed. Who knows? The dead man might have found a silver key; it might still be with his gear in the pile.

Kalar looks over the room. Most of the contents of the pile are worthless, but his search revealed 7 gems in various pockets and pouches and about 200 gp in coins. Looking through the alchemical shelf contents he finds them. In a small box Kalar finds 3 onyxes, 5 tiny sacks of diamond dust, and an emerald. He collects them, along with the flasks of blood and a flask that seemed like it might have a health potion in it, he's not sure.
Meanwhile in the corridor. The party begins to hear knocking coming from one of the small doors.

Kalar places most of the items in his pack. The gems and diamond dust however, he keeps in one of his pouches.
Kalar stands up from the pile and says, "Well, Lynda my dear. I don't think we'll find anything else of use here. If you still want to see those men in the cells, lead on and I will follow."
He says to Rachelle, "Rachelle, would you be a dear and accompany us? In my current state, I might not be able to fight as effectively as I could, if things were to turn sour."
Before he finishes talking though, he hears the knocking sound.
"Did anyone else hear that?"

Lynda begins to lead Kalar to the room of the painter and bull man. She takes caution to cross over the tiles she knows she's already crossed.
...At least, that was her plan. There was a knocking, and it unsettled Lynda. She decided to stay away from the door. She looks to Kalar to see if he would continue following, or to investigate.

Kalar leads the way to the knocking door. He readies his shield and his war pick.
He uses his pick to knock on the door as well, "If you can hear me, knock twice. And if you can hear me and are planning to attack, you should be warned I've got a wand aimed at your head that will send a lightning bolt to roast you alive in there, so no sudden movements."

Rachelle picks up the magic sword, and looks it over, swinging it a few times. She wasn't that big on swords, but a spare one - and a magical one at that - wouldn't go amiss. She also picked up the magical shield, putting her old one on the back of her pack. Even if she hadn't really known Francis, it would be a shame to let his most prized possessions go to waste.
Noticing Lynda's motions, she hands the quiver over to her.
Hearing the knocking, Rachelle heads out to the small door it was coming from. Kalar had already dealt with... introductions.
"The tentacle monster that was here is dead now, if that makes you feel any better" Rachelle responded.

The dwarf looks around. "What tentacle monsters?" Then he sees the mess behind him, "Oh that one. Neat. What happened to the cave?"
The party thinks back of Gontort. He was party of the larger group before this whole castle mess started. They remember him being really violent and dumb. He wears a chain shirt and wields a large axe. He never carried a pack. Considering how often he'd eat the food out of other people's packs, the party thinks this guy might have been the reason Galse started keeping a close eye on the food.

Kalar briefly recounts everything that's happened so far, trying to keep things as simple as possible.
"I apologize for threatening you, as you can see, things have been rather dangerous of late, and I couldn't take any chances. I hope you can forgive me, my friend."
He reaches out his arm, offering a handshake to the dwarf.
