Castle Amber: A D&D Adventure

Seeing the horrible eyes of the Avatar upon him, Rob flinches, and is about to run away, but he remembers himself, He attacks the Avatar with his Rapier of Light Infliction, and hopes to all that is holy that this won't be the last thing he ever does in his life.

Losing Rob's concentration, the illusion of Rob topples off Stumpy, and writhes on the floor, still mimicking the song of Inspire Heroics

Flank secured, onto the real target. Harvey turns to the avatar, glad he's still alive enough to kill... "WHY'S HE DANCING?!" the air seems to shout, having been focusing his attention elsewhere. Not to complain, all that wigglin and shaking might leave a weak point open.. what an opportunity! Can't let it go to waste! He hustles to gain focus again, GODS what a rush, and slips loose two more fiery arrows at the avatar.

Psychic Points Left: 8
Hustle to regain psychic focus, followed by full attack action (First shot greater psionic, second shot not)

"W-wait...?!" Ardan exclaims. "I...I have a body again...?! As a monster?! Thats...awesome! But wait, how will they know I'm not an enemy..."

Ardan looks and notices the small Kython eyeing the frog and mouse, and then notices the coal braziers. He then rushes over and attempts to take a coal brazier and brandish it as a weapon against the small kython.

With things going the way they are, Kalar focuses his divine power on himself, making sure that things will go well.

Spell Cast: Pact of Return, will fall in battle against the avatar of the seventh.

As Arden in kython form retrieves the braizer, Dan appears before him with a questioning look upon his face and a deadly spell in his hands. After a short moment, Dan turned the fiery spell at the smaller kython that had begun to lunge at the mouse, killing it instantly. Dan said nothing and continued to watch Arden in kython form while preparing another spell.

The hole in the wall and iron barrier grew. No new kythons came through, but sounds of several kythons battling against the iron barrier could be heard. The small fire started by one of the kythons bursting into flames had begun to grow. The red carpet leading to the coffin was on fire. Azedarac and Lynda still found themselves stunned by the avatar's attack, unable to do anything about the hole, the fire, or more importantly, the monster in front of them. Azedarac's acid wounds grew larger. He wasn't looking too good.

Harvey and Rob found attacking the avatar much easier now. Their attacks struck into the silvery monster with ease. It still managed, even while being compelled to dance, to protect it's most vital areas though. Harvey could tell by the way the monster protected itself from his attacks that his invisibility was having little to no effect.

Then, the avatar began to retch. Swarms of devilish bugs spilled from it's throat like a waterfall. They quickly filled the area around it, engulfing Lynda, Azedarac, and Rob. The bugs quickly began biting the three.

Lynda takes 10 dmg + 2 fire dmg
Rob takes 12 dmg + 4 fire dmg

Kalar moves aways, getting some distance between himself and the swarm. He flies up into the air, just out of range of anything that might close to melee with him. He then makes a swift slapping motion with his hand which is accompanied by a massively powerful thunderclap which rings in the air. The attack then streaks towards the the avatar, visible as a dense ripple in the air. He makes sure to keep his shield at the ready, just in case the avatar retaliates.

Ability used: Clap of thunder, Ranged touch attack (+11) Flat 84 sonic damage, no save against damage, Fort save 25 or be deafened for 1 round, No spell resist

Kalar has +2 to resist all SLAs and spells of evil outsiders

Harvey also puts some distance between himself and the swarm, but stays close enough to keep his shots precise. He takes a shot just to make sure he's close enough to still be precise.

Seeing that Lynda appears helpless, Rob grabs her and drags her away. As he retreats, he casts Shout towards the Avatar and the bugs.

False-Rob continues flailing around on the ground and singing.

Ardan looks over to the wizard guy who may or may not be contemplating blasting him to bits.

"Woah, slow down there!" He says, holding his hands up. "I'm not an actual monster, I'm just wearing it! I'm Ardan, the ghost! I don't have any candelabras to wield, so I'm using this coal brazier."

Dan seemed satisfied with that answer and vanished. Two more small kythons dropped down into the room with Arden in kython form, the mouse, and the beholder in frog form. The hole was still getting bigger. The acid used by the avatar of the lord of the seventh level of hell was showing no sign of ceasing it's corrosion. The wall leading to the room where the heroes were fighting had opened up. A large kython burst through, sending bits of melted stone and acid everywhere. The kython landed on Azedarac, pinning him to the ground.

A loud burst of sound scattered the swarm around the avatar, Azedarac, and the newly appeared kython. Azedarac seemed close to death as the large kython grappled him in it's crab-like claws. Harvey's arrows were followed by another burst of sound from Kalar.They hit the avatar and together blasted off a part of the monster's face. A terrible screech spilled out of the hole in the beast's head, as it danced a fancy jig. Despite missing what should be a vital part of it's anatomy, the monster danced on, still eyeing Rob with it's one good eye. As the screech ended, the sound of more than a dozen large kythons hitting the iron barrier on the ceiling could be heard.

Harvey glares at the Kython on Azedarac! We were finally starting to make progress on the avatar and DAMN is that hole in his face asking for an arrow in it! But as soon as Azedarac's dead, that Kython's gonna turn on you, Bilchik and then what're you gonna do? Gah... doing the right thing.. even for the wrong reasons...

"Keep at that avatar! Damnit all! This is our chance!" he cries in frustration, diverting two slay living arrows towards the Kython on Azedarac. If that won't save him, nothing will.

Panic's setting in.. firing like a moron.. when's the last time Harvey Bilchik panicked?! After the attack he hustles to regain his focus. The pleasant rush has turned into an urgent drone as his brain struggles to keep up with this kind of continued effort. But it'll be worth it, if I can just hit that avatar one more time...

Full attack towards the Kython on Archie with the slay living arrows. If for whatever reason he dies on the first arrow, Harvey points a fire arrow towards the avatar for his second shot. and then Hustle to regain focus.

"Rob! Get Azderac out of there! Use your cape!"

As soon as Rob has Azderac clear, Kalar will form a dome of solid stone around the avatar. Hopefully, it will give them a few extra seconds to regroup.

Wall of Stone: Wall of Stone, 70 feet square, 2 inches thick, each section has 30 hp and hardness 8.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, the avatar doesn't get a ref save, as he's currently under the effects of the dancing thing.

Rob drops Lynda unceremoniously over Stumpy's saddle. Stumpy flies away with her.

Then Rob dives towards Azedarac, intending to whisk them both away the the safest-looking corner of the room with his Cape of the Mountebank.

He hopes that Kalar has a good plan, because he does NOT like the way the Avatar is looking at him.

False Rob, still prone, still flailing, breaks into an inappropriately joyous chorus of his song.

"You two little creatures shouldn't be standing here, it's dangerous." Ardan says to the frog and mouse. "Here, let me move you.The prince could use some company."

Ardan will attempt to move the frog and mouse to the coffin, and defend them from any Kythons that get close.

Harvey missed. The kython began to squeeze it's claw around Azedarac's neck. Harvey's next shot might have been the last chance for Azedarac. When the arrow struck the kython, a surge of dark energy shot through it's insect-like body. Harvey had seen this before when he shot the other kythons with these arrows. This time, the kython seemed too distracted to shake off the affect. Before it knew what had happened, the effect had reached it's heart. The monster fell over, dead.

Rob rushed in. He grabbed a hold on Azedarac's arm as it stuck out from under the body of the large beast. In an instant they were teleported away. In the corner of the room, Rob could see the damage that had been dealt to Azedarac. The avatar's acid had melted away his flesh. Rob could see bone and organs through the acid made holes. It stood to reason that the stunning affects of the hideous flail might not be the only thing keeping Azedarac from fighting. His eyes were shut and he was barely breathing. Azedarac was dying.

A wall formed around the dancing menace. Soon, the silver avatar of the lord of the seventh level of hell could no longer be seen through the magically created stone dome. The scuffling sound of dancing feet could still be heard coming from inside the dome.

Lynda, on top of Stumpy, regained the use of her arms and legs. No longer stunned by the avatar, Lynda struggled to not fall off the horse.
Meanwhile, Arden in kython form hurried to protect the mouse and frog. The smaller kythons went to rush past him. Only after Arden attacked the unsuspecting creatures did they see him as a threat at all. Injured, the two turned to face the much larger Arden.

Then, 6 large kythons came rushing through the hole in the wall. A sudden burst of arcane energy blasted two of the large kythons to pieces before they even hit the ground. The 4 remaining landed in front of the stone dome and screeched at the heroes. Smaller kythons followed behind, with a small flying insect joining Arden in the white marble room. Harvey had quickly backed away just in time to avoid being surrounded. Kalar looked down at the kythons landing below him and was glad none of them jumped straight towards him from the hole near the ceiling they had all come out. From his point of view, Kalar could see even more of the kythons coming.
