Kalar overhears Rob and whispers to him, "If you're going to use that wish, now would be a good time to use it. I don't like the looks of this empty room, I have a feeling that whatever's going to hit us is going to hit us hard."

As he says that, Kalar keeps his sword manifested, searching for traps while he's at it.

"I only blinded his main eye," replied Azedarac, backing away from the door. "I thought it might be a good idea to leave it with the ability to attack. I may have been wrong."
The beholder didn't attack though. It just floated in the doorway, looking angry and also confused.

Harvey and some others had begun searching the room. The coal basins seems normal, though the fact that they were still burning despite the age of the corpse in the coffin seemed off.
Kalar detected no traps as he waved his sword around.

Ardan strolls over to the coal braziers and attempts to light his ghostly candelabra.

He then drifts over to look at the corpse in the coffin.

"Gee buddy, you're not lookin' so good." Ardan says to it. "My names Ardan. I died in Castle Amber what feels ages ago. My corpse is still probably clinging to this candelabra here, in a spare bedroom next to a broken safe. Poisonous gas traps aren't fun, took the wind right out of my sails. But enough about me, mind to introduce yourself?"

"It's likely waiting to see if we'll break the curse," stated Azedarac.

"I've already broken the curse," said scratchy voice in everyone's head. "The portal on the ceiling is the portal out. My armies have already begun ravaging the material plane. You are all free to leave at any time."

Rob and Harvey were no stranger to lies, yet no one in the group could seem to sense any deception in these words.

"WHAT?!" Lynda shrieks.

"So...we journeyed through that castle, acquired all those items, fought all those creatures, got bitched at for all our questions, and you're telling me we got here just in time for you to tell us you've already broken the damn curse?!"

Lynda proceeds to have a small meltdown from her fury.

Harvey doesn't sense any deception, true, but he never detected any deception with Rob's recent lies either. Plus, he's gonna lie. Of course he's gonna lie. It's what we were told to expect. The goofy assasin feels worry at the pit of his stomach, but isn't ready to give up hope yet. He's no stranger to stubbornness either.

"So, we claimed all these treasures, killed all these people and associated with low-lives for nothing? How did you do it?! Hate to be a sore loser, but you're just a voice!" his voice wavering between false bravado and legitimate exasperation.

Hehe, Lynda's on the same page. He gives her a nod.

Rob glances up at the enportaled ceiling.

"That is unfortunate, but it doesn't change what we came here to do."

"Perhaps it is time for a Potion Of Time Travel?"

Harvey cackles "That's stupid enough to work!" and quickly fetches the potion out of his sack for Rob. "I'll let you do the honors."

Put on the spot, Rob accepts the potion.

Inwardly Rob wonders; "Am I supposed to drink it, or splash it about?"

He hopes that Dan will suddenly pop back into view and explain whether or not this is a good idea... and if not, perhaps either Kalar or Azedarc will provide their input...

...but if a moment goes by with nobody stopping him or clarifying the situation, Rob will quaff the Potion Of Time Travel.

"Voice hasn't answered us yet. You'd think he'd have something to say, wouldn't you? Makes you wonder if we're on the right track..." Harvey shrugs and starts pokin around the coffin. "Who's the expert on illusions? Is everything here as it seems? Hehe.. ain't dead till we say we're dead, right? This is all a lot to take in, I'm still a little puffed out on that Giant's smoke.."

"Is that the best of ideas? What if it only affects you? And how do we even know if the voice is telling the truth? If what we've learned is correct, it needs the items to break the curse, and we have those items. At the very least, go into this prepared and use that wish."

Rob hesitates... He doesn't completely stop, but he does wait for a moment longer, Potion of Time Travel still dangling indecisively in his fingers

"Consider the facts. On the one hand, the avatar has already made it to the material plane and knows we're coming. If we follow, it will have an ambush prepared and we will need everything we have to stop it. On the other hand, it could be watching us now, trying to goad us into doing something foolish, in which case we are already in its trap. With those two possibilities, we at least know what we're up against. If you drink that potion now, there is no telling what could happen and we, or even just you, will be hurtling into something unknown against which we are woefully unprepared. It's time, use the wish, we need that power in our favor."

Azedarac finished his summoning spell. 3 mephits sporting symbols of the inquisition appeared. "Go through that portal on the ceiling. I will contact you shortly to find out what's on the other side," commanded Azedarac. The mephits flew off, disappearing into the portal. "Now what's this about potions of time travel? Don't drink that, it could do anything."

Assuming Harvey's investigation of the coffin provides no new insights, he's going to give the corpse a gentle shake. "We're here, your majesty.. wakey wakey. Time to break the curse!"
