Seeing that it is probably safe now, Kalar decides that there'll be no harm in entering. So he says, "Lynda, be a dear and go on in. You might be able to use those keen eyes of yours to notice any danger. I'd go on in, but there's a chance that whatever deity this place is set up to might not exactly get along too well with mine. Ah, and take the gnome with you. He's a bit off-kilter, but he's one of those cave-dwelling folk who know a great deal about stonework, so he might spot something if you miss it."
Yeah, Kalar is confusing gnomes with dwarves. He's a bit closed-minded that way.

As Silas touches the statue, it animates. It grabs his hand with a wicked grin. Silas' arm turns to stone, or rather white polished marble. It swings down to his side, still out stretched as if to touch something. The statue turns from marble to granite.
You take a -4 on all Strength-based checks (whether it be a skill check, a grapple check, a lifting check, etc.) Any spells you cast that have a Somatic component incur a 20% arcane spell failure chance, which stacks with any penalties for wearing armor. You also gain a smash attack with the arm that deals 1d6+(2) [str].

Silas frowns in dismay. The loss of his arm is upsetting.
"Curses!" he mumbles.
But he also realizes he can't resist the urge to touch more statues.
"Correlation between how they look and what they do to you..." he continues mumbling.
Silas begins to study the appearance of the other statues to see if he can guess which ones would be beneficial to touch, and which would be harmful.
He is also looking for ones that appear deadly. If he finds one with a skully face, he would like to try and lure Kalar within shoving distance without giving up what he is up to.... now that he thinks about it, he would actually settle for pushing *any* of his companions into dangerous-looking statues if Kalar won't get close enough, and he can make it look like an accident.

Silas notices a statue towards the back of chapel. It's resemblance to the fancy man in the boxing ring room is uncanny, though it's wearing a simply robe like the rest of the statues. Lynda, having never seen the fancy man, does not notice this. There is also one with an shield that has a very familiar lion head upon it. Lynda does notice this, connecting the lion head directly back to the lion headed man from the mirrored hallway.
Of the remaining statues; one holds a sword, one holds a vase, one holds a scepter, one wears an simple amulet and one wears a helmet. Other than that, nothing really stands out to Silas, or Lynda, to distinguish the statues from one another. There are men and women, and they are all in similar robes.
Everyone notes the doors in this room. 2 going north, 1 going west, 1 going east and the 1 leading south that everyone entered from.

"That lion..." Lynda mutters to herself. "There's no mistaking it. It has to be him..."
Lynda looks around the chapel a little more.
"These statues...who were they?" Lynda thinks. She goes over to Kalar.
"Kalar. I recognize one of these statues. It might just be that massive lion fellow that chased us out of the mirror hallway.
You did more exploring of Castle Clover than what I did. Do you recognize any more of these figures?"

Thock, Thock, Thock.
Loud footsteps erupt from behind Lynda. A statue nearby animated and chases after Lynda as she went to Kalar. It tapped her on the shoulder before she could turn around. Then it froze in place and turned to granite.
Lynda's mind was swarmed with images. Images of great speeches, of kings and queen, of fine diner parties all danced threw her head. Lynda stood stunned in place as it all took place. Then it was done.
Lynda gains a +1 to diplomacy permanently.

"Wah?!" Lynda says, startled. She whips around to be greeted by a statue. She begins to back up from it, making sure she can see all the statues present.
"Huh. That's...certainly different." Lynda says, partially amused. "I feel much more capable with my words..."
"But." She says, becoming much more serious. "There's something suspicious going on here. Don't touch the statues, and don't turn your back. I'm sure there's at least one here that'll snap our necks..."

Well... That certainly lowers Silas' value as an asset... Kalar wonders if it's worth the effort now to keep him alive. Then again, if he does, then Silas might feel indebted to him. Probably not, but it's worth considering. Always think of the long-term.
At least now he knows that the room is potentially dangerous, and it's not only triggered by the presence of possibly opposed clerics. He very cautiously enters the room, staying well away from any of the statues, at least 2 but preferably 3 meters away. Should a statue come alive, he'll drop and throw his shield at it right before tumbling away. Preferably in the direction of Silas.
Without dropping his guard, he says to Lynda, "You're right, I think that's the lion-headed creature. I don't see the ogre lady anywhere though. That fancy-looking one is probably the first person we encountered."
Kalar thinks about this a moment. "Maybe these are the people who own this place? If that's the case, then these are certainly sick testaments to whatever twisted game they're playing. Come, stay as far away from them as possible, we can't risk anything else happening."
Kalar curses having exhausted his ability to scream at things. It would certainly have come in handy here to destroy the statues.
Once inside, Kalar looks around, paying as much attention as he can to things. He'll keep an eye out for any religious symbols that might look familiar, or perhaps anything that he can sense that might have some sort of divine power or connection.

(Kalar Knowledge Religion Check)
Kalar notices that the figurine on the altar depicts a black dagger frozen in ice. He's not quite sure which that could be a holy symbol for. The only thing that comes to mind is one of the lords of hell. The lord of the fifth, Kalar believes.
Also, the symbol on the vase being held by one of the statues is the symbol of Jubilex, The Faceless Lord. Kalar's not quite sure he remembers much more about Jubilex other than his name and the fact that he's a giant blob monster.

"These statues...grant benefit...or death." Lynda muses. "Hm...I wonder."
Lynda decides to careful go over to the statue of the man with an amulet, wary of potentially wandering statues.
"An amulet symbolizes many things..." She thinks.
"Ugh, I'm so going to regret this..."
She extends her hand as if going for a handshake.
"Greetings. My name is Lynda. What is yours?"
"Don't fail me now..." She thinks to herself, slightly anxious.

Lynda reaches out at the statue, expecting it to reach out and grab her hand. She never even saw the amulet coming. It flew off the statue and wrapped itself around Lynda's neck. The statue shrugged at Lynda and then stopped moving and turned to granite. Lynda tried and failed to remove the necklace. The necklace is heavy on Lynda's neck and impossible to remove, though it doesn't seem to be having any other effects on her.
"Right lads... Sticking around here might not be the best of ideas. That symbol over there," he says pointing at the black dagger pointed in ice, "Is definitely the holy symbol of a high lord of the hells, and definitely not someone we want to mess around with." He deliberately embellishes the point a little. Besides, he doubts anyone there, other than perhaps Silas, would know enough to see that he wasn't entirely sure himself.
"That vase over there has a symbol of the Faceless Lord, another deity we do not wish to anger."
