Harvey grins at himself. Shoulda known a woman who jumps on a badass like Jehan wouldn't have any trouble with common thugs. Streets are clearer now.. good! Should make the sneaking easier.. but where the hell am I sneaking to? Wish I'd let the others case the joint first..

At any rate, Harvey will move on, periodically checking an alley for secret passages or anything more than it is. He's heading generally for the Cathedral at the center of town but not before attempting to sneak up on Lynda, to toss her money somewhere she'll see it. Let her think the bandit had a change of heart.. hehehehe!

Lynda takes the flask.

"Well for all my effort I'm certainly not leaving empty handed." She thinks. "Perhaps I'll clean it out later..."

She also takes and wears the ring. With that, she'll continue wandering through town, perhaps looking for an inn or something so she can change her now bloodied dress.

"Oh, is that so, my friend? I was not aware of that. So, tell me, my friend, seeing as how you're being so helpful, do you know of any secret ways into the cathedral?"

Rob realizes that this scene is a little bit too hot for him to handle alone.

He turns aside towards a nearby building outside the cathedral, and skirts around behind it, making as if he is looking for the servant's entrance to deliver a message.

Rachelle reprises her role as guard of the camp. She was never too fond of big human cities, and waltzing into one - especially given how she looked - wouldn't end well for her. Instead, she pulls out her magic book and continues reading.

She and the rest of the party would have her hands full with the Beast tomorrow. Today was a day to enjoy what little time she knew for sure she had left.

"Well there's side doors, but you must be talking about the underground one. No one uses that one. That's where the beast is said to sleep. The entrance isn't even guarded. It's in an abandoned house near the cathedral," Jack said.
Meanwhile, Rob had found those side doors. He watched as an inquisitor went up, knocked three times, and waited till someone opened the door and let them in. With that he fully circled the cathedral, finding nothing else of note. He then searched for an abandoned hosue nearby. He found one easily enough, just outside of the monk district near the slums. It was small but the windows were boarded up, which provided a great deal of much needed privacy. A quick look inside showed the place had likely been empty for months, possibly years.
Harvey, meanwhile, quickly placed Lynda's sack of gold along the path she was on hoping she would find it, which she did. Harvey then continued to stalk around the slums.
Eventually, Harvey came across a rather odd alley way. It was a lot cleaner than any other alley, it was even paved. And despite leading to a dead end, it seemed guarded by a tough looking guy. The jeweled sabre on the guy's side hint at a station above that of a normal street thug.
Lynda wandered off. Now spattered in the blood of the three men she killed, Lynda was left alone. It took her until she left the slums to find an Inn she found suitable.
Rachelle sat with some of Kalar's undead and some of the bigger items the party left with her. It was a nice day to sit and read.

Rob is pleased with the small abandoned house.

He spends a moment walking around the biggest room, trying to memorize it so that he will be able to reliably teleport into it later, if he needs to do so.

Then he re-mounts Stumpy, and hurries back outside of the city to tell Rachelle what he has learned.

He will also keep his eyes open for Lynda, Harvey, and Kalar as he rides. Since he doesn't know where any of them are he does not expect to run into them, but just in case, he will be looking for them.

"That is most helpful my friend. Tell me, what do you know of this beast? Has anyone seen it before? It would be extremely helpful to learn everything I can about it."

Damnit Daryl, why are you always dead when I need you?! Harvey watches and waits, imagining the various outcomes

Go up there and say hello to the nice fellow! Ask him what's the haps. Maybe he knows something to help you.. maybe you can make it worth his while! Unless this is, against all odds, the right place.. or they don't care for strangers and him and his pals jump you. Take you into what's definitely their secret bad guys lair and nobody ever sees H.P. Bilchik again.. No, staying unseen is the best defense.

So let's go another way. Sit back here and wait. See if someone shows up, see if words are exchanged. A password, maybe. Then what.. go up to him and try your luck? That's the same as last time, only now they know you're a sneaky son of a bitch trying to get in.. which might be a benefit in certain kinds of company, heheh.

Or you can always do the right thing. Once in the throat so he can't scream out and then pincushion style to the chest so the life drips out of him. Unless he's a tough guy.. or you miss.. and then there's no way you're making nice. And what would he have that you'd want? That "flamboyant" sword? A map to all the magic rings in town? Dream on, asshole.

This is really a job for a team. I'll just track Lynda down and have her look into it! Harvey looks down.. let's see... she went west.. then she changed shoes and went east.. then she pretended to be a pony and crapped in the street. This is impossible!

Harvey sadly sits and observes. A guy in an alley isn't exactly earth-shattering. Need to find out more before going back and finding the party.

Lynda will go in to the inn, get a room, and change out of her blood stained dress in to one of her other dresses in her inventory.

Kalar slowly circle around town as he spoke with Jack. He had been in a bit of a rush to avoid Jack's friends and had exited on the side of town away from his undead army. He was in no great rush to get back to them though as Jack was proving a good source of information.
Jack was telling the legend of the Beast of Averoigne. This included half a dozen stories where the beast is described as everything from a shadowy figure to a hulking werewolf-like villian. Kalar noted that in all of the stories, the beast is described as no more than 10ft tall. The beast is almost always said to snatch of women and children and take them towards the cathedral, with one of the stories describing the beast carrying it's victum high into the tower's only window.
Lynda set herself up at a room in the Inn, despite the concerned looks from the Inn keepers. It wasn't fancy, but it was equiped with a wash basin and fresh linens on the bed. She took her time cleaning herself and changing her clothes.
Harvey squatted behind an old box for what seemed like hours before anyone came up to the alley. This man seemed out of place in the slums. He was wearing clean clothes that seem to be closer to those of a merchant than a street wise slum dweller. A flash of some sort of badge or patch was all the guard needed before he pressed a stone in the wall to open the secret door. Once the man was inside, the secret door quickly closed behind him. It never opened wide enough for Harvey to get even a quick glance of what might be inside.
Rob quickly made his way back to the hill were he left Rachelle. Dan was no where to be seen when he arrived. The magic symbol on the ground that he was working on before was now slightly glowing with arcane energy. Kalar's undead army could be seen nearby, badly hiding in some bushes.

Rob tells Rachelle all about his scouting.

"There are a lot of inquisitors guarding the outside of the cathedral. They seemed pretty alert. There was a side entrance which seemed barely guarded from the outside, but I am gessing only important Inquisition people are allowed in that way."

"I found an abandoned house close to the cathedral, which we can use as a hide-out if we want. I figure I could teleport into there without about four people, so I can get you that far easily if you want to go."

Rob leaves Stumpy next to Rachelle and goes over to the undead.

"DON'T LET THE BAD DREAM MULE BITE YOU, ROB" says Stumpy with wary concern.

"Come on guys, you can do better than that!" says Rob to the undead, gently shooing them further back into the bushes. "Really hunker down. Keep out of the sunlight. What would your boss say if he saw you standing out in the open like that?"

Without getting too close to it, Rob examines the Carnex, trying to guess what portion of his Teleport's limited power will be consumed if he tries to transport it.

Naturally he won't touch it without Kalar's permission

(I forgot the Carnex's size class. Large? Huge?)

"Such interesting and helpful stories, my friend."

Kalar continues to circle back towards where his small army is.

"Tell me, my friend, would you happen to know who that high tower belongs to? The one with the single window?"

Carnex is Large. And touching it is prolly a bad idea, as its main attack is just reaching out to poke people for 2d6+7 damage :P That, and all the non-dead people might want to keep away from it, as just being within 30 feet of it gives you a -2 to saves. Not sure if it's an ability that can be suppressed though.

Interesting, but nothing to handle alone. Might have nothing to do with the job. Harvey sneaks back to camp to wait for the others. Maybe they found something better.

"Well I've heard the leader live up..." then he was gone. Jack had vanished.
Kalar rejoined Rob and Rachelle in camp then and found Rob poking at his undead. They weren't listening to him at all as he tried to get them to hide better.
Harvey crept back towards camp. He watched the others for a while before rejoining them.
