"Hmm, is that so? I might be able to heal them. If you would be so kind, my dear, as to inquire of the people at the chapel if the two might be moved out into sunlight and fresh air. Both would do good for them, and I will be able to treat them. Of course, after I am done, they may return to the chapel that they may rest."

Kalar is doubly cautious now that he knows the chapel is aligned to Levistus. This could be a very dire development, and he reconsiders his plan to raid the graveyard. Certainly, he will proceed with even greater caution now.

"Remember, we're gonna go by false names. With the inquisition affiliation, we cannot risk tipping people off." Lynda reminds him. "If you have to address me in front of people, my name is currently Lady Lucretia D'masque, your faithful, though somewhat naive and sheltered noble assistant."

With that, Lynda heads back in to the chapel to find the priests.

"I have spoken to the doctor. He requests that these patients be moved outside to be treated. He tells me that the sunlight and the fresh air will be beneficial to these people."

"Oh I've heard of this," says the priest. "So he is a cleric of the Sun god Pelor! I knew it! I heard they were a bit odd. Ok, we'll have them set up outside at once. Make sure he hurries though, I'm afraid these two are in need on urgent care and we can't manage them outside for long." With that, the priest set about telling the other two about the plan of action. Beds were dragged and sheets were gathered. "Hurry now. Go get him at once!"
By the time Lynda got back and told Kalar the good news, word had spread quickly of the priests setting something up in front of the chapel. Even from the far off Inn, Lynda and Kalar could see a small crowd forming near where the patients should be.

Having defeated the spiders, Rachelle and Rob continued on towards town. Hopefully, they wouldn't run into anything else in these woods.

"They think you worship the sun god, Pelor, fair warning. Do with that information what you will. Just be careful with what you say. Although, I'm sure you'll come up with something, you always do." Lynda tells Kalar. "I'll go see if I can manage the crowd for you. You better get ready to perform some 'miracles', doc." Lynda says the last part with both sarcasm and severity.

Lynda heads over to the crowd of people.

"Yes, yes, please get the patients out here as carefully as you can. Though I do bid caution, while the doctor is working, I would ask that you give him space while he attends to his patients. It's just a personal preference of his, I'm sure you can all understand."

Before heading out, and as soon as he's sure no one is watching, Kalar focuses divine power on himself, forcing his mind to reach outwards that it might touch other minds.

Once near the patients, Kalar will take out his healer's kit and begin tending to them. For a bit of show, he takes some incense from his pack and begins burning it after using a tindertwig to ignite it.

He tries to gauge the extent of their injuries and tries to treat them appropriately. For the man, he takes out a couple vials of healing oil and applies them to some of the bandages in his pack. He then re-wraps the man's injuries to the best of his abilities. He explains, "This oil should aid in the healing of the man, it's put together from some things I've found on my travels." (Absolutely true, but he leaves out that it he wasn't the one that put it together. Also, it was certainly put together by things he'd found in the alchemical lab.)

While he's doing that, if he doesn't read any suspicion in any of the people, he'll also use his glove bit by bit to heal the man. Of course, he'll only heal certain injuries after the wounds have been covered up, so as to mask the speedy healing the man undergoes.

For the girl, he treats the wound, disinfecting it as best as he can. He also uses his medical skills to try seeing what sort of poison the girl is infected by. If he can, he'll attempt to prevent it from spreading any further. If he can't, then he will ask everyone to bow their heads, close their eyes, and pray for her recovery, saying that faith and love from those who know her is a powerful force (he'll leave out that he considers it mostly useless without actual divine power to back it up, but he is still telling the truth, just not all of it). When everyone has their heads bowed, he'll channel divine power into the girl, of course hiding it to make sure that it looks like no magic is being used.

When the spell is done, he'll check the girl, and if she seems better, he will say that the prayers of the people have helped in her recovery (helped by making them avert their eyes long enough to allow Kalar to use some magic) and that she should go rest now. In the morning, he will look at them again, and hopes that they can be brought out once more to see the rising of the sun. He says it is a beautiful sight (Kalar's heartless and evil, but even he thinks a sunrise can look pretty. That, and if they need to escape, it should be easier at dawn when a lot of the people are still a bit groggy.) and that uplifted morale is just as important to recovery as medicine.

Spell Used in room: Detect Thoughts, allows reading surface thoughts

Will save: 21

Banking on reading the surface thoughts of others as a sort of early warning device in case it's time to get out of there.

Heal check: +20 (10 (ranks) + 8 (ab mod) + 2 (healer's kit))

Spell Used on girl: Panacea (spell compendium), heals 1d8+9 damage, removes poison, and removes blinded, confused, dazed, dazzled, deafened, diseased, exhausted, fatigued, frightened, nauseated, panicked, paralyzed, shaken, sickened, and stunned. Does not heal ability damage though, Kalar will have to wait the next day to be able to do that.

As Rob rides along the path towards Moulins, he again takes out the Hat of Disguise from his pack, carefully places it on his head, and attempts to disguise himself as a Lizardfolk version of himself.

He does not speak a single word to Rachelle as he does this.

Rachelle eventually notices Rob's transformation into a lizardfolk, and is taken aback by this willing decision to turn oneself into such a creature, if only temporarily. What if someone saw them?

...she still doesn't say anything, though. There's still a ways to go before reaching this town, and it's unlikely that anyone will show up on the path anytime soon.

The crowd fell to a hushed murmur as Kalar approached the two. He had a plan. First, he rushed over to the bleeding man and took out his healing kit. He spread things around, lit incense, redressed wounds. He made a good show of things. Once he began applying the oil, he could tell the jig might be up. The once unconscious man woke up. The crowd seemed shocked. KAlar managed to stop the man from getting up, assuring him he was still very injured and needed to remain in bed. A few pokes with his glove and Kalar thought the man might be completely healed.
After Kalar proclaimed his work with the man done, a few cheers from the crowd could be heard. Kalar sensed the crowd thought of him as a real blessing. Kalar started up with the little girl. He could tell right away that his mundane abilities would not be enough. The girl was dying. The crowd seemed to all follow his lead as he asked them all to pray. Halfway through his spell, the prayer began to slowly stop. Eyes opened and the crowd's mood turned from joyous to cautious. The large amount of swelling around the girl's bite was noticeably gone. Color came back to her face. Though she did not wake up, Kalar could sense that the crowd knew she was healed. Kalar didn't sense any negativity towards his spell casting. He sensed only wonder and excitement. No one in the crowd dared speak to Kalar as he left back to the Inn. Kalar returned to the Inn to find his room and meals were now free.

The day began to turn to night as Rob and Rachelle traveled the old trail. They crested over a hill and in the distance they could see the lights of town slowly turning on for the coming night.

As soon as any townsperson says anything about their lizardlike appearance, or even looks at them funny, he will say in a jovial tone;

"Well met, gentle folk! Don't be alarmed by our costumes! We are travelling performers!"

He will not warn Rachelle about this plan before blurting it out to the first suitable stranger

That wen significantly better than Kalar could have hoped. As soon as they are back in their rooms, he says to Lynda:

"Lynda, dear, that went rather well. I had meant to purchase some things in town, but I would rather not press our luck. If you would be so kind, I was wondering if you could purchase a few things for me? I will six mules for a little... experiment I have planned. So as to not arouse suspicion though, might be a good idea to see if we can purchase a cart or a wagon of some sort. I will also need some iron bands, cold-hammered into lengths about a yard long or so. The smith or the cooper should be able to help with those, most probably the cooper. Here."

Kalar hands Lynda 1,500 gold pieces in one of his pouches.

"That should more than cover it. Also, you did a spectacular job gathering information. I would appreciate it, and it would do a great deal for us, if manage to learn anything else that might aid us. I'm going to attempt to contact to others, see how they're faring.

Kalar focuses divine energy into this thoughts, picturing the message he means to send. He wonders who he should send it to. Normally, he would message Voulton, but in this case, Rob might be a better choice. Rob is a native here, somewhat, and would have better knowledge of the land. Direct communication with him might be more appropriate. He releases the divine energy into a message for Rob:

"Lynda and I at Moulins. Inquisition here. Healed two peasants, town tentatively friendly. Using disguises, pseudonyms. Lynda is Lady Lucretia. I am the doctor."

"Alright. I shall be back at some point." Lynda tells Kalar before leaving.

Lynda will go and seek out the requested items. She will possibly ask and converse with villagers in order to find information on where to acquire the items for Kalar. She will also try to converse with the villagers about current events in Averoigne and such, under the guise that she is a naive, sheltered noblewoman.

Rachelle and Rob rushed towards town as the sun set. They arrived at the shabby walls of the town before the last rays of sun sank below the horizon. The people had mostly gone home for the day. The town guard was a ways off and didn't seem to even notice their arrival. Moments after they entered town, they received Kalar's message.

Lynda had put in an order for the iron bands and was gathering the mules, cart and supplies. While talking to the people in the village, she quickly got the impression that no one knew very much at all about the goings on in the rest of the kingdom. Though they managed a fair about of trade goods, no trade seemed to take place between this town and any of the others. Lynda could figure out the reason in her chat with random towns folk before they began to turn in for the night, but she could tell something about it was odd.

when Rob hears Kalar's words in his mind, the first thing he thinks to reply is;

"Well met, gentle Kalar! Don't be alarmed by our costumes! We are posing as travelling performers!"

After sending spell has dissipated, Rob curses himself for forgetting to mention the fate that befell Voulton.

"Kalar and Lynda are alive, and in town ahead of us" Rob tells Rachelle. He then proceeds to tell her about their cover story and Lynda's alias.

"Get some rest. I will be heading out in a while, taking in the sights and all that."

As soon as night has well and truly fallen, Kalar will head out, keeping mostly to the shadows, but not in a way as to look suspicious. If anyone asks, he'll say he's just taking a stroll, as the cool night air is comforting. Further, he'll say that he's keeping quiet as doesn't exactly want people coming to see him in the dead of night for healing (technically true) and would prefer any such dealings to take place in the light of the day.

Once out of sight, he'll fly up into the air for a better look at things. Of course, he'll still keep to the shadows, particularly if it's a moonlit night.

He will look around the area, trying to pick up anything that Lynda might have missed. He'll also take a look at the graveyard, gauging its defenses and how he might make it in. He'll avoid entering it for now, as what tools he may have had to acquire the resources he needs were lost with the wagon. While he's at it, he'll use his powers to detect any possible traces of magic in the area.

He'll also keep an eye out for the other two, as they may be nearby.

After an hour of this, he'll return to his room, landing first and walking there, again, out of sight of people. There, he'll continue to work on his mask.
