Nothing happens for about a minute.
The party continues decides to continue following the path.
After a short while, the party hears branches rustling on both sides of the path. At the limit of their sight they see a number of grotesque shadowy forms on both sides of the road apparently following them.
Kalar is really on edge now. He makes sure his shield is ready to deflect or intercept anything that jumps at his face. He also makes sure his war pick is ready, and will drive the point into the skull of the first thing that sneaks up on him.

Galse will also keep his weapon near at hand, but isn't particularly worried. If they wanted to start something, they'd have started it by now. They probably don't wanna be here any more than we do, and who can blame 'em? First rule of the road: If you don't want trouble, don't start any. Gonna try to get a good look at 'em, figure out what they're doing, who they are. Maybe we should be following them, instead.
The shadows fade and the nearby rustling stops. The party marches on. They come to a part of the path that is wider then before. There's a fork in the path but that's not what gets the party's attention.
The see an amber-skinned woman with long golden hair sleeping in the middle of the path. A unicorn is sleeping next to her. The woman is wearing a dress the color of yellow daffodils. Her head rests on a rolled up saffron-colored cloak. One arm is draped around a small wooden chest.

Upon seeing the woman, Kalar stops to take a look around. Seeing that the woman is with a unicorn, he surmises that she might probably be someone of some importance or the other. That, coupled with the fact that she's holding onto a chest, intrigues him. She just might be useful to his purposes. Still, it might be dangerous.
On the one hand, seeing as how she seems to get along well with the unicorn, she must have some considerable importance or magical abilities. Kalar has heard the myths about unicorns, and how they are mystical guardians of the wood and are powerful magical beings who defend maidens and nature against all who would defile them. (Kalar is not very well-versed in woodland lore, it would seem.) He figures that if she associates so closely with one, then she would have a great deal of power of her own. And if that's the case, she might just have enough power to help them get out of there.
Still... on the other hand, if she's that powerful, then she might be able to kill them if she's displeased. If she gets angry, then the party just might be forced to flee if they can't confront her. And if they have to flee, then going back to the killer trees would not be a good idea, but neither would heading forward into the unknown again.
With that, Kalar decides that it would be best to confront this woman now, and hope that he'll be able to talk his way through things as he did before. At the very least, they'll get some information out of her.
He coughs his throat to get her attention.

The lady wakes up slowly. An angry look on her face while waking. She turns her attention to you, stands and then politely curtsies. The unicorn stands at her side.
"Greetings, how did you come to be in castle clover?"
Her voice seems louder than her small frame would suggest.

Kalar bows gracefully to the woman. He then proceeds to talk to her.
"I apologize for waking you, my lady, but I fear we had little choice as everything here seems to be intent on killing us.
"To tell the truth, my lady, I have no idea what we are doing here myself. One day, we're on a caravan, and the next we are trapped here. Many of our companions have already perished, some in horrible ways. And I fear that more of us will follow if we do not discover what this place is and how we are to be free of it."
Trying to bank on his belief that unicorns are beings of righteousness and whatnot, Kalar tries to word his speech into such a way as to appeal to the good nature of the woman (who he hopes has the same "righteousness" as he believes unicorns to have) so that she will be more inclined to aid them.
I am certain that none of us asked to be here, and further, none of those who died here deserved to have died in the manner that they did. One of our companions was but a boy, barely a young man, when he met his end at the hands of a coward's poison."
"If I may be so bold, my lady, but would you aid us in righting this wrong? Will you help us discover what this place is and how to get out?"

Smiling, the woman seems almost uninterested in Kalar's story.
"If I knew how to escape, I would have months ago. I'm afraid we are all stuck here. Trapped by the mist."
She gestures down the wider of the 2 paths. About 100ft down the path a door can be seen with windows on either side of it. The mist can be seen through the windows.
"I'm sorry for your losses. But thus is the case of many that pass through here. You are the third such group that I have met coming from the same direction down this path. I've encountered even more than that elsewhere. I know not what happens to these groups. I suspect the worst."

Kalar nods at this, and then says, "I see, thank you my lady."
Feeling that she knows a bit more than she's letting on, Kalar tries a different angle of attack.
"Again, if I may be so bold as to ask, you say that you too are trapped here. If it would not be too much trouble, what is your story, my lady?"

"Months?" Lynda thought. "This woman has been here for months?"
"Sorry to plague you with so many questions, my fair lady, but...how is it that you've survived out here for months? We've barely been here for a a few days and we've nearly met our maker multiple times."
"As well...wherever did you find that majestic creature that is at your side?" Lynda says in awe, gesturing to the unicorn.

Silas also chimes in with his normal string of question. Galse wonders what this lady has been eating for months in here. The lady takes a moment to absorb the questions. "You are an inquisitive lot aren't you."
As the lady begins to answer questions, the unicorn begins to stomp and snort in an angry manner. "What is it, Lanaria?" says the lady. The lady looks suspiciously at the party. Her eyes literally burn with a golden flame. "I think you all better leave," says the unicorn to the party.

The rest of the party takes Galse's lead and walk on past the unicorn and the elf lady. The elf and the unicorn eye the party as they leave, never taking their eyes of them. The party marches on. They hear strange sounds and see strange shadows int he forest. They stay on guard but continue.
Then they come to a point where a river runs up beside the path. A 10' wide wooden bridge spans a meandering stream. The path continues across the bridge. On the side of the bridge closest to the party, the party sees a humanoid with the head and horns of a goat saying: "Please don't eat me, Mr. Troll, my brothers, who are right behind me, are much bigger and fatter than I am." A deep gruff voice from beneath the bridge answers, "All right, you may pass, I'll wait for your brothers." The goatman exits across the bridge.

Kalar follows Galse away from the woman and the unicorn, but is convinced that the two of them are hiding something. He decides that it would be a good idea to try to sneak back there later and get some information out of them.
At the bridge, after hearing the gruff voice, he is slightly concerned. An ogre perhaps? Or a troll? Maybe a giant of some sort? Whatever it is, it's bound to be dangerous. so he makes sure his war pick is at ready.
"Come, Lynda. Let's check this out."
