Voulton might've been smart enough to bring his lanterns and oil from the wagon, and if so chooses now as the time to present them.

Voulton attempts to open the door. It's firmly locked but no traps go off, much to everyone's relief. To get a better look at the door, Voulton fumbles through his bag and produces a lantern. The rest of the party looks on as Voulton then goes searching again, this time for the oil. After filling the lantern, Voulton then begins striking his flint and steel to light the lantern. Once lit, the sturdiness of the door was truely revealed. The door did not look ancient like the one before. Hard polished oak was braced by large metal bands. The thickness of the door couldn't be determined without opening it but the design led one to believe it had a decent girth.

Up above, a large wyvern zombie was smashing into skeletons. Confusion filled the undead horde's ranks. The two ghouls not under Kalar's control rallied the other undead to attack. The remaining 13 skeletons, 5 zombies, 7 bloodhulks, and also the ghouls began to form a circle around the wyvern zombie. They seemed to be planning to attack it all at once.

"I don't suppose any of you know anything about picking locks? ..or do you suppose that smashing the door might alert the undead to our presence? At any rate, this is a bad sign: Manticores don't lock doors behind them."

Kalar keeps his own forces back, letting the wyvern do what damage it can for now.

He does, however, stay near the front. He raises his holy symbol again and channels negative energy into it. He knows he cannot control any further undead, but he can put the fear of Kalar into them. He releases the energy, channeling it into the hostile undead.

"Fear Me."

After that, he will order all his troops to surge in. He will join the fray, fighting with Combat Expertise on (AC 37, Attack +2 1d8+2) but will keep relatively back. As his skeletons and zombies fall, he will attempt to bring new ones under his control. He will also heal up any bloodhulks under his command who look to be getting too damaged. Hrulgin will keep back, sniping hostile undead with his crossbow (Attack: +10). The wyvern zombie will continue to fight as long as it's able, focusing on the hostile bloodhulks.

All of the uncontrolled skeletons turned towards Kalar in awe. Some fell to their knees as if praying. Others just stood motionless looking at Kalar. The Wyvern Zombie destroyed one of the ghouls. Kalar and his minions rushed in then. They closed the gap between the uncontrolled undead horde. While they did, the bloodhulks, zombies and remaining ghoul tore into the zombie wyvern.
Kalar's skeletons and zombies started destroying the awe inspired skeleton as do his bloodhulks. All but 3 of the inspired skeletons are destroyed in this process. Hrulgin fired his crossbow and damaged a zombie.

Zombie Wyvern takes 52 dmg.

Hrulgin deals 4 dmg.

Kalar allows all of his minions to continue tearing into the hostile undead. He raises his arm up and sends power through it, channeling divine power into himself (+2 luck bonus on attack and damage rolls for one minute). That done, he moves in alongside his undead army to engage the remaining hostiles.

Just realized that a bunch of the spells I had in mind for this fight require Fort saves, and undead are immune to most of those, hehe. Same with the buffs I'd intended, they provide morale bonuses and we filthy undead don't get those. Oh well, time for good, old-fashioned melee.

Kalar will order his troops to continue attacking. He'll use his sword to attack the bloodhulks while using combat expertise. He will have his bloodhulks focus on the other bloodhulks while the lesser undead support them.

Lynda, Rachelle, Voulton, and Rob had never thought that a simple door could halt their efforts to explore the basement of these ruins. However, that is exactly what was currently happening. Each of them looked to the other for answers.

Kalar meanwhile was fighting a horde of undead. All of his skeletons attacked one of the bloodhulks. They tore into it, splattering blood everywhere. The zombie wyvern finished it off with a thud. The zombie wyvern didn't last long after that. The remaining bloodhulks and the ghoul tore it apart. As it returned to it's native plane, the undead horde turned towards Kalar and his minions. Kalar's minions attacked. His zombied moved into melee range with the bloodhulks. Hrulgin shot a crossbow bolt into the ghoul's face and Kalar's new ghoul minion ran in and destroyed the other ghoul. Only bloodhulks remained fighting in the enemy horde. Kalar remains just outside of what he thinks is their attack ranger, ready to strike when able.

Kalar orders his troops to continue swarming around the bloodhulks and to take them down. He raises up his holy symbol and summons two bugbear zombies to aid in the fight (Summon Undead III).

Pow!
With a touch, Lynda blows the lock off the door. Where the knob was is now nothing but a hole. The door swings open a bit revealing a long hallway leading further underground. The hallway is lined with two sets of pillars with possibly more pillars down the stairs at the end of the hall.

Meanwhile, Kalar watched as the uncontrolled bloodhulks smashed six of his skeletons. As they were destroyed he could feel the influence he held over the skeletons currently standing in awe grow. His bloodhulks squared off with some of uncontrolled bloodhulks then. Kalar's zombies and his remaining skeletons managed to take one of the bloodhulks down. Six uncontrolled bloodhulks remained. Hrulgin along with the other ghoul attacked the same bloodhulk that has been pummeled by Kalar's own bloodhulks. Kalar's bugbears appeared then ready to fight.

Of the remaining bloodhulks one has taken 47 dmg.

With few spells available to him that will affect the bloodhulks, Kalar enters the fray, hacking and stabbing alongside his minions but still careful to keep his shield between himself and the bloodhulks, using his expertise to avoid any attacks that might come at him.

Lynda decides this would be a good time to try on her Girallon Bracers. The prospect of extra arms might be helpful...
Lynda also wears her magical glasses.

Rob proceeds cautiously. He is mindful of two things;

One, those pillars look like a good place for an ambush

Two, if the ambush is from undead, Rob and his friends should still be invisible to them.

As Lynda equipped some of her magical gear, Rob took the lead. He kept an eye on the pillars as he past. Excepting an ambush and not a hidden trap his eyes were focused on the backs of the pillars and not the front where a small hole was concealed by the subtle patterns on the pillars.

Above ground, Kalar had charged in and slashed at the already damaged bloodhulk. Blood poured out of the wound. Kalar's bloodhulks went head to head with the enemy bloodhulks, their fat punches were less effective against one another than against the boney bodies of Kalar's skeletons. The bugbears, new to the field, teamed up against one of the bloodhulks. It slammed into them and they slammed right back. When the zombies and skeletons started tearing apart the Bloodhulk in front of Kalar, he thought this might be the bloodest battle he had ever witnessed. The bloodhulk in front of him fell. At the same time, Kalar's new ghoul was smashed into the ground by one of the bloodhulks. The bugbears were being assaulted by their target and another skeleton fell.

Back down below, Rob slowly crept forward. When his foot hit the hidden trip plate the chill that went up his spine was quickly burned away by the fire that poured out of the small holes in the pillars. He did his best to avoid the flames but they burned him all the same. Rachelle, Lynda, and Voulton looked on in horror as the fire burned deeply into Rob's skin. As fast as the fire began, it stopped. Rob was still on fire and was doing his best to put it out.

Rob takes 47 fire damage.

"Ouch! Damn!" Rob jumps back away from the trap. "Damn! I'm okay! Ouch-ouch! I'm okay. Damn! Damn! Damn!"

Rob casts Cure Serious Wounds on himself and rolls on the floor near the other's feet.
