Kalar considers this...
"I am willing to open this door, but not yet to invite you in. What assurance do we have that you won't attack us once we open this door?"

"Very well, I will open the door for you. But we shall see if you are able to enter. I have heard stories about undead who are unable to enter areas without permission, so you will forgive my caution."
Kalar gestures to the others to be ready for any attacks, and then opens the door. He gets ready behind his tower shield, claws at ready.

Behind the door was just a skeleton. The skeleton was holding Charles' sword. The skeleton's other arm was engulfed in a mercurial liquid and on it's forehead a symbol of a hand holding an eye had been carved.
(Those with knowledge religion of at least 5 notice this is the symbol of Veccna.)
"I have no food."

Kalar relaxes somewhat. "You're the sword, aren't you?"
Then he notices the symbol carved onto the skeleton/sword's head.
"Vecna? You are beholden to Vecna? And what happened to your arm?"

The skeleton enters and then takes a place towards the middle of the room. "When will you be opening the gate?" it asks.
Kalar notices it's not speaking in the voice of the sword and the sword seems to be fairly inert despite having lots to say and do last time he saw it. To top it all off, it seems to have ignored Kalar's questions.
