Hello!

I'd like to make a collaboration game. Grin

o I can draw some graphics. The things I can draw best are anime-stlye characters.
Worst would be animals and backgrounds, I guess.
o I enjoy making up stories, characters and worlds.
o I can write texts/dialogues in oddly worded english. (It's not my native language.)
o If I have to I can do plotscripting to move heros on the screen, check for tags ect.

Sounds good? Smile

Surprised But there are some drawbacks! Surprised

o I'm studing, so I don't have much free time.
o There shouldn't be a fixed deadline for this project.
o Let's try to keep is simple and an amount of work that is finishable.
o I'd suggest we work constantly on the game, like every weekend we submit something small, like a sprite or a part of NPC-Speech or such.

I'd like comunicate this project either by mail or PM or Slimesalad IRC, but of course you can reply here in this threat as well.

I kind of want to try a collab game, and reading your skills makes me think I'm the exact opposite...

I like plotscripting (especially battle systems and ui/menus) and designing/balancing battles. I don't like drawing but I can do tilesets (very slowly.) I can't do music at all. I can write text but I'm a much better editor than creative writer.

I can try to make some music. I don't have tons of experience in composing, but I played classical piano for 9 years and have been playing guitar for just as long.

I've also never done a collab and don't have tons of free time but my parents are English majors and writers, so I have some editing skills too.

I've gotten pretty good with plotsctiping too. I'm pushing my limits in making a sidescroller with a custom battle system so simple stuff is pretty easy now. I'm willing to join in with you guys if I think the ideas sound cool enough ;)

Mystic, let's make a game together! Grin
And let's make it so good, that kylekrack joins us! ;)

How shall we proceed?
I'd suggest we decide on roles, so that then everyone can work on something. It seems like that this won't be too difficult.

We'd need someone who:
o organizes collaboration
o writes plot and story (marionline?)
o designs characters and world/scenario
o double checks the ideas for plotholes, ect. (mystics + kylekrack?)
o does graphics (marionline?)
o does graphics quality check?
o does battle design
o scripting (mystics + kylekrack?)
o writes dialogues, NPC speech
o does beta-Testing, spellchecking, ect.
o provides music and sounds (kylekrack ?)
o ... something I forgot?

This is just a draft, of tasks that came to my mind. And I guess, some of them can be easily split down to smaller parts.

Do you already have something like a half-ready game idea that needs some polish? =D

I can beta test, I'll try my hardest to break the game! I could spellcheck, too, but I think that that would be a job of the editor.

I can probably pull some ideas that I never completed to throw out there as suggestions. I assume we're going to go for a standard OHR rpg? That'll help me weed out bad ideas. Also, do you prefer light-hearted, or more serious storylines?

Also, how do you guys want to communicate? Using this thread would be rather inefficient. I suggest we make a file on Google Drive. That way we can all share it together and work on some things at the same time.

We couldn't work on the .rpg file at the same time, though.

No, but writing we can. Good thing about Google Drive is that we can use it like a dropbox for the .rpg and .hss files.

If multiple people are working on the actual game, though, they're going to need to tell the others when it's being worked on, so we don't get to "parallel timeline" rpg files.

That could be what our game is about!

Hello,
I'd prefer not to use google.
-> Email, PM, Forum or Skype would be fine.
But, because I'm living in a diffrent time zone, so it might be difficult to do real time communication.

For writing with others in the same document, i think there is a programm called etherpad.

Wouldn't it be better in one person puts att the stuff in an rpg file and sends it to the others?
Unmerged rpg-files sound scary... Zombie even if we don't use git.

About the theme, i think my graphic stlye is rather colorful+cheerful, than serious. But that dosen't mean we can't make a serious story with these graphics.
I'd like to make a "standart" rpg using the ohr. Smile

I'm not a Google guy myself. (insert DuckDuckGo propaganda here.)

And when I mentioned those games, I was talking about gameplay elements, not mood. I was thinking the player could travel between time periods, change things in the past, and have them affect the future.

As for Skype, I get on when I can, but feel free to add me.

My username is: trasher[I don't know if forum spambots have figured out Skype yet]evan.

Okay, Taco Bot I'll try to add you to skype.
Maybe we should wait for a reply from Mystic, before we go and take the planning part more into details. Mystic hasn't asnwered yet up to now.

You can add me on Skype too.
technoguy9

We can make a group call and communicate there. It might work if we all just use the rpg file one at a time. We'd just have to make sure we communicate who's making changes and when. Try to work on things like artwork, text boxes, etc. separately and then import them later.
