Alright, so I've been noticing a recurring theme on this site. Most of you have really amazing games that you've spent months, if not years, of your lives on; yet they show up in OHR-based communities like Slime Salad and Castle Paradox, and never go anywhere.
It would be a shame to see all of these wonderful creations lost to the sands of time, and I think we should let people know about them!
Basically, what I'm suggesting is a mass-posting of OHR Games to sites like Game Jolt and Indie DB. Not only would this generate a newly found interest in said games, it may also generate some for the OHR itself; and if the OHR gains a few new regular users, that will guarantee a better turnout for the next HotOHR!
(Also, putting a game on GJ might generate some ad revenue)
There may already be loads of OHR games on these sites, but I don't know of any. I didn't bother to search every single game I know of, only most of the ones from the OHR Top 30 lists.

I think http://itch.io/ is also a good place to post games.

Hi Taco Bot, you must be new here.
Welcome to the community!
V

But to get a bit more serious, this is the ever present problem of the OHR. Very few people here market their games. Ignore these other sites you posted, think about the ouya and android. Do you know how many people play my games on the ouya and android? Thousands! You know how easy it is to put your game on there? Simple!

The problem is, people either think their games aren't good enough, aren't complete enough or not worth marketing. That coupled with the fact that a lot of people that made the older ohr greats have left the community. So, something you could do, if you really wanted to help, would be to review games and tell people all the great things they did and track down the developers of the older ohr greats and try to get them to promote their games.

Anyways, here's links to all the threads you seem to have missed where I or other people have been trying to spread the community's games.

Great, now I gotta figure out why my two highest rated games have the word "caterpillar" in the title. Dangerous link!

No, it's okay. One has "Caterpillar" and the other has "Catapillar."

Spoonweaver is right. I've received more attention than I ever dreamed by putting my game on Android and OUYA.

Hey, creating entries on Indie DB for the most interesting OHR games is actually a really good idea. Rinku created a bunch of pages for some OHR games and the engine itself many years ago, but he made some strange choices and those are hardly representative of the best games we have today.

I'm not familiar with Game Jolt, but I take it you're not meant to include other people's games on it?

I recommend especially looking at Spoonweaver's "Promoting your game!" thread. It ought to be stickied.
