Okay, I finished a game... now what?

As the title says... I'm done with Okédoké and now no longer have that One Big OHR Project that I'm working toward getting done. So far I've done some random graphics (some submitted to that random collab contest thing that may still be ongoing, some just for fun), but nothing really... game-like.

And yet, I have a bunch of unfinished games sitting around, some of them never even released so far.

Any opinions on what I should work on next?

I've added a bit to Puckamon since its last release, so I could continue working on that...

And then there's FYS:AHS which I still haven't come out with a demo release of...

...and I guess I could keep working on The K'hyurbhi Lands, which I apparently have no already-uploaded screenshots of on my Photobucket account (though at this point "remake from scratch" is more likely than "continue with current version" for that one. I feel like the 8-bit-style graphics may not have been the best idea for that one.)

There's also various unfinished games that I still have lying around and might possibly still be interesting in finishing...

Like this never-finished 8-bit contest game.

And the never-even-mentioned-here-before game where these Lizardmonsters made an appearance.

(Note that, ultimately, what I work on next will be "whatever I feel like working on next," not necessarily what the poll results come up with, or even what I might want to work on next--sometimes I WANT to get something done, but just don't feel like it or can't bring up the motivation, so it gets "stuck." So posts just saying "whatever you want" or something along those lines are a bit silly. Should be common sense, but... it's not so common after all. XD)

I really loved Puckamon when I was playing it years ago. I thought it was very inspiring how you made the whole game using the Gameboy color palette. I'd love to see that game finished.

I would also say puckmon. That or something else. Just a quick run down as to why.

This seems like it's mainly one of those personal projects that other people can't quite related to.

The K'hyurbhi Lands
Unlike Puckamon, this game's parody is of a more serious nature and kind of falls into the fan fic genre instead of the parody genre.

Zombie Camp (unfinished 8-bit contest game)
I don't know very much about this one. I like the map. Overall it seems kinda bland.

Unfinished game with Lizardmonsters in it
Yay dragons? Liek the zombie camp game, I don't know much here. Could be great, but overall a cluster of dragons isn't something I haven't seen before.

As for something else, I suggest you try to join a team or something. Your graphics are not only top notch but also have style. These are very rare and sought after gifts. However, your writing is pretty bad at times and I'd love to see something other than a generic OHR rpg. (not that there's anything wrong with generic ohr rpgs)

...and I had a reply typed up, only to lose it to an "invalid session" error when trying to post it. >_< This post was going to be longer but I didn't feel like re-typing most of it.

Anyway... looks like a lot of support for Puckamon so far. Finishing (or coming out with a more-complete demo of) Puckamon seems like a good idea, especially considering that it's already over half done.

FYS: AHS is probably less of a "personal project that others won't relate to" than The K'hyurbhi Lands is (as demonstrated perfectly by some people on here's reactions to TKL! XD), though I suppose it still might count to some extent. It does tie in to Okédoké though, for what it's worth.

And I realized while typing this that I completely forgot to include Fat Frog: The Movie in the original post. I do still plan on continuing that eventually (why would I label it "Part 1" without any intention of making a "Part 2" later?), though it'd be tricky to get the voices done now that my sister (voice of Vomitus de Pointless) is away at college.

I get that error practically every day because I often leave the Post Reply page open for an open. If you get it just press the back button and try again. You can even reopen the tab after closing it. It's actually pretty difficult with modern web browsers to lose your work, unless you accidentally close the whole browser or it crashes.

Of those games Puckamon is the only one that I've played; I liked it. I agree with SPoonweaver that AHS seems like a project just for yourself; that's exactly the same impression I had.

Those lizard monsters look great! I wonder what the game would be?

The game with Lizardmonsters (they're mostly just random encounters, though one character gets them as summon spells so they're slightly more important than a "regular" random encounter enemy) is basically a spoof of the "generic medieval/fantasy RPG" type thing.

The Lizardmonsters themselves are basically poking at the various types of "typical fantasy RPG dragon"--the morbidly obese dragon, the "looks more like a dinosaur" dragon (as seen with FF6's sauropod and tyrannosaur color-swap "dragons" later on), the Asian-style long-bodied magically-floating water dragon, the "dragon with random bug features" (compound eyes, tail stinger, etc.), and the "dragon with random bird features." And of course, their colors and elemental attacks match up with the standard D&D dragons (...though the green one uses its poison gas in a way that's more Señor Rialgo-style than D&D-dragon-style.)

Current plan for the start of its story: main character dude Emanon (a 15-year-old kid with spiky hair who inexplicably is already a trained fighter) is already considered this great hero in the country of Puopuland, but since saving the kingdom a year or so back he hasn't really had any "hero stuff" to do (and he has basically no other skills, all he knows how to do is fight stuff) so he's bored. And he's rapidly approaching the age when inexplicably-young hero types usually retire (16), so he's getting pretty desperate to find another big "quest" type thing to do so he'll have a stash of gold and ancient artifacts to live off of and won't end up doomed to the horrible fate of being stuck at home and having to find a real job.

Some other characters include a girl who becomes able to summon creatures after sitting on them (she's the one who can summon the Lizardmonsters eventually), a blue-haired elf archer guy who often brags that he's "sneaky as a motherf***er" (...basically the same character as in Zombie Camp), an androgynous gothy-looking magic user who wants to travel to the realm of Heck and become a Grim Reaper, a mad scientist lady with pink hair who is obsessed with the idea of getting to study/dissect mystical creatures like elves and fairies, and a weird little Arabian-looking guy who may not be entirely human and fights mainly by absorbing the powers of his enemies.

I found a few screenshots on my computer (somewhat outdated ones, the maptiles for buildings are a bit different now), so I can finally post more of that one than just the Lizardmonsters. These are really, really early-game screenshots though (there's really not much playable to the game yet), though, so they're probably not the most interesting thing ever.

Huh. I did not realize that you could just push the back button and get back to the already-typed-but-not-yet-posted reply. Will have to remember that. Usually I remember to copy my entire post before submitting in case it happens (since it happens A LOT), but I forgot this time...
