The reason we haven't added an fade-to- or fade-through-colour animations is because 256 colour palettes make that difficult. Flickering a certain colour or palette is another obvious addition. But adding parameters to the animations, while straightforward, is a little bit of work (3 file formats and 3 menus need adjusting).
