It's halfway through the contest, and I think we've got everything in our game planned out. For the first week, mari worked on fleshing out the story and characters, while I worked on graphics.

Day Eight (yesterday):
Hardly touched the game because I was busy and couldn't get much sleep. Hope inability to get a good night's sleep doesn't kill this.
Features done: 4.5/62 Bonus features: 0/9
I actually cut some stuff, but the number of unfinished features went up because I made the list more fine grained.

Day 9 of Ichy and Sdratchy:
Ichiro decided he wanted to continue to work on the battles. Which is fine by me, gives me more time to make the rest of the dungeons cooler. I just hope he gets them done with enough time to spare for me to balance everything together. Today I mostly did a bunch of boring but necessary additions to the script. Ichiro drew some graphics which was a huge morale boost to me. Here's a tip for future collab contest entrants: as soon as you've planned the game with your partner IMMEDIATELY try to get something done to show to them. If you're the artist draw something, if you're the scripter get something running on the screen, just... anything. It shows them you're serious and it gets them to start being serious. Anyhow check out the new screen:

Day Nine:
Spent the day on it and got a lot done. I feel like I'm over halfway through the scripting, and that we will meet the deadline without forcing a terrible pace. Finally have something interactive that's starting to resemble the final product.

Day 10 of Ichy and Sdratchy:
Told Ichiro I want the battles done by Wednesday to give myself a 48hr period to properly integrate and balance everything together (and in the worst case scenario, add anything that's missing). Today I finished up the last of the required scripts so from this point forward the main thing I have to do is just come up with and add more dungeon content. I might dabble with trying to get some music done after I get a bit more content done. Looks like it's going to be smooth sailing from this point forward unless Ichiro hits a snag.

Lots more work (far too much) on it today resulted in actual gameplay, which was fun to add. It's time to stop hiding behind rumours about working on an FPS; that means screenshots.
Feature cuts have continued, but extra stuff keeps creeping in (I even drew graphics today). Way too much time tweaking slice collections and trivial stuff. It's a shock to see that the features done count is still so low. I haven't started on map gen yet; that's by far the biggest thing on the list. For Ortega Colonies I think the map generator took me a few days to get working. (Writing a crappy map generator seems less work than making maps by hand, otherwise I would cut it.) I can't spend much time on the game the next few days, so I'm awfully worried.

Wrote the soundtrack today. Probably a profound waste of time since mediocre original music doesn't really win you contests, but I hate ripping stuff and I had fun making it so it's a win as far as I'm concerned. Ichiro made some substantial progress on battles. Everything seems to be going smoothly...

Didn't do much on the game today, and what I did was rather wasted on something that turned out to take far longer than expected, and should have been cut instead. I don't really know what K's up to. There are a bunch of different things he could work on, most notably enemy graphics. Didn't see him today.

Mostly just came up with and implemented some more content. Ichiro reported he had to cut some things from battles but would still get them mostly in on time. Have a feeling the last 48hrs are going to be a doozy since I dunno if Ichiro is going to get the town done or anything. Kind of just resting up for it.

Did pretty much the same thing as yesterday. Slightly more behind on doing level layouts than I'd like to be but not terrible so. Ichiro is going to turn in the battles tonight. Little bit nervous 'cause I'm not entirely sure how much work I'm going to have to do in the next 48hrs but I'm steeling myself up for the task. My goal here is to get the game playable tomorrow so I can ship it off for Ichiro for testing and then ride off into the sunset together for a final day of polishing. Now, what's REALLY going to happen is I'm barely going to get it done late Friday night and will have to just fire and forget.
It's that kind of a game.

K drew and sent me a bunch of enemy graphics and a bunch of text which sets up some background. I think he's still in denial about this thing not getting finished. Meanwhile, even though I had intended to steer clear of the game that day, I added something I had already cut from the game, but was too fun to put in. I'm so bad at prioritisation. Later, I was working on the game in the dentist's office when I discovered that some stuff I had thought was done wasn't. So overall the feature count actually went backwards today.

Spent my time grabbing sound effects and music, I stayed up till the wee hours of the morning to attempt and send them, only to find our that SS wouldn't let me send the file over PM. Now I'll have to find another way to get it to TMC.
