What! I didn't know backgrounds could support transparency... This opens up a whole new world for me. Off hand do you know if multiple backgrounds can appear on screen at once, thus having backgrounds over top of backgrounds over top of backgrounds? Because that would really make for some interesting effects. Also this could be excellent for a HUD.

As far as I know, it'll only show one backdrop at a time, though there's at least one workaround I can think of using "import full maptile sets" to basically capture a full backdrop as a map (it'll have to be 16 by 10 tiles exactly though), and then overlaying a second transparent backdrop over it. For example, having a backdrop/tilemap of a castle scene, and then having transparent backdrops for each character talking during said scene. I think I've seen some of the more recent "Shining Force" spinoffs do this before too.
To friends long gone, and those I've yet to meet - thank you.

As a built in text-box feature you can only display one transparent backdrop at a time.

Using the "load backdrop sprite" command you can display (and move) as many as you want.

But displaying two at a time as a built-in feature sounds really nice for conversations. No promises, but I might add that someday.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. It makes me feel less overwhelmed by it all.

That's awesome. I will indeed use this function.

I switched over to drawing my maps in photoshop. So far this is what I've been working on. Best part is it only took about 20 minutes and looks much better than what I was previously doing. I'll continue working on it more when I get a chance next weekend.

To be fair, though, I was kinda bed-ridden with extreme back pains that day.

Wow, just released Succession and already well through another game? Also, that font is excellent.

Oh hey, I did quite a bit of work on CV this weekend too. Features, not just bugfixes. I hope to release an update within a couple days to supersede the buggy contest release.

@Mogri: Wizard Blocks lookes fun! Smile

Today and yesterday I've been working on a game called Krunkle Donger, it was suggested by Spoonweaver on IRC.
All the maps have to be one screen size, every screen has to be important and there shall be a cowboy in it (wich is the most difficult, i think).

It's an interesting challenge and a nice break from FoolsQuest, thoug I won't promise to finish the game.

Looks like it could be fun. I like the idea of a minimal 1-screen map area game. What are the arrows on the ground for? The first thing this makes me think of is "Chu Chu Rocket" for some reason.

But it looks nicer with OHR-style outlining :P

Still got to play Ramble Planet and Succession. You people are keeping me busy!
