Enemy sprite of the day:
So, I've been toying with the idea of food stuffs type of system for healing items.
Soda will still revive, and pies (which I forgot to add to 1.3beta, I think) will heal the party, but fruit and veggies and fast food are the only things edible in-battle, and meat has to be eaten out of battle since "it takes time to cook it". This is generally most likely going to be a thing.
The idea I'm toying with mostly, though, is using a way where each class has food preferences.
Like, say, Healers are plant people, so they won't like eating veggies and fruit, but they'll enjoy meat more. This also makes it where it'll have to rely on it's natural healing skills more inside of battle.
Berserkers could like meat more than veggies, Naturalists could receive no benefit from eating fast food but get a bigger boost from fruits, veggies, and natural meats, and such.
By base, each class will have a default value of eating it at 100% value, and if one value goes down, another goes up.
So Healers will have 50% of the normal health gain from f&v but gain 150% of normal health gain from meat. Berserkers would be the opposite.
What do you all think?
edit:
A small update, I wrote into the font my pseudo-language of Dot-English. Dot-English is basically a form of writing with the letters and numbers of the English language, but in a 2x3 pixel zone per letter. The font is for cryptic messages that only one who finds the translation item will learn from. But there will be tiny messages all over the place you can find that will just really amount to easter eggs, but they will be compacted into said 2x3 spaces. The font version is spread out more for simplicity and an easier time reading, forgot to say. Not saying that really any of these messages will be necessary for completing the game or anything. I suppose you can think of it, in a way, as the Al Behd language from Final Fantasy X, where you can find primers. Only with one grand dictionary and it doesn't auto-translate for you. Well, I'll put an option into the options menu. Just for lazy's sake.

Try and decipher this message, if you want:
