The OHRSpot User Hall of Fame is an Hall of Fame for the OHR's top Dev's, game creators, spriter's, composer's, etc.

Each year, 8 users that receive the most nominations will be nominated, 3 users that receive the most votes out of those 8 nominated users will be chosen to be enshrined into the Hall.

It's time to nominate the 8 users.

Please do not nominate yourself.
Post your nominations here, or PM them to me.

Voting will begin October 6th and ends October 26th.

Maybe we should have some discussions about who these people are, why they deserve to be enshrined, what their greatest accomplishments are? I don't know if any of you have been to say, Cooperstown or Canton, but part of what makes them great is that it isn't just a list of names. There's plaques and busts and displays, memorabillia and stories, a veritable shrine to the history contained therein. Now I'm the first to admit, making OHR Games isn't like playing for the Chicago Bears but if this is going to be more than a circlejerk of a popularity contest, maybe we should actually consider our history and the nominees a little bit?

EDIT: Another important consideration is the safeguards professional sports institutions put in place to keep from being swamped. It's perfectly okay for a year to go by with no one being admitted to the Hall of Fame, they never induct the Backstreet Boys just because no one was particularly good at baseball that year.

They also put a limit on when a person is elligible, generally ten or fifteen years after their retirement, fewer if they've recently died. The reason being that the waiting period helps guarantee that yes, he's really done with the sport, but also makes sure that ten or fifteen years from now his achievements are still remembered: That the player really is someone who should be enshrined for all the ages and not just a flash in the pan.

Furthermore, and perhaps their wisest rule, is that they limit how long a player is elligible. If they don't make it in after a certain number of years, I believe 5, their name is stricken from the ballots. A Hall of Fame player should be someone who leaves no doubt of their greatness. If that can't be proved beyond a shadow of a doubt within a reasonable time frame, they put the guy aside so that later revisionist notions don't put him in. It also serves as a good stop-gap, so we don't end up with the entire lineup of men who played baseball in 1933 being included just because.

These restrictions are cruel and have certainly excluded some stupendous players over the past 100 years, but they've served so well to protect the integrity of the Hall of Fame and of sports in general, that I can't help but feel we should try to borrow some inspiration from them.

Gotta say, I love this idea! Loled when I saw everyone nominating EXACTLY 8 users though, as imaginegaming didn't say "nominate 8 users!" The post says the 8 users that receive the most nominations will become nominees that you can then vote for. I believe by saying, "It's time to nominate the 8 users," what imaginegaming meant was, "It's time to find our 8 nominees." You nominate users, the 8 most nominated users become the official nominees, nominees are then voted for.

I agree with most of what Gizmog is saying here. A clean format and references would be best. May I suggest we put a cap on the number of users each of us can nominate (5 perhaps?). On top of that, can we list the specific field of this user's contributions we are referencing, i.e. story, graphics, game design/level design, plotscripting, music, etc.?

This is NOT my list, but in a format similar to this:
1. Fenrir - Pixel Art (Vikings of Midgard)
2. JSH - Game Design/Story (Motrya)
3. James Paige - Total Badassery (Wandering Hamster/Original OHRRPGCE)
4. RMZ - Game Design/Level Design (Triangle's Mediocre Adventure WIP. {OMG SOOOO MANY TRIANGLES! THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!!!})
5. Soda_piggy - All Around Sexiness (Just being who he is... ;D)

I nominate Gizmog, solely for referring to this as potentially a "circlejerk of a popularity contest."

Instead of a hall of fame lets have presidential election. A two party system of course. Nathan Karr can be our Ron Paul.
