Who knows? I don't!

As a friendly reminder, I am still looking to hire a graphics-type expert. If you know a pixel person who is looking for dollars, hook me up.

Reminds me of one or two old DOS games with a search command that told me to go search every tile of a desert until I found a required item...

...an experience I've been wanting to replicate ever since

The Search Shovel can be safely ignored if you don't care to mess with it, but will give some nice rewards if you decide to use it.

The entire game pretty much operates on this philosophy. If you want to skip out on exploration and you're skilled at cooking, you can win just by purchasing the ingredients you use. If you're not that into cooking (why are you playing a game titled "Super Penguin Chef"?), you can theoretically win without cooking a single thing, though I can only imagine that this would be extremely tedious.

The recipe book is now finished! Recipes are sorted in alphabetical order, they don't overlap the text box or picture, and they're generally better-presented.

I would post a picture, but, well, spoilers.

You could post a pic of Cheeseburger, since that's the tutorial recipe.

A picture of the recipe book will contain names of other recipes.

But maybe I'll post a barebones recipe book for TEASER TUESDAY of next week.

One of the things I plan to do for the next version of Entrepreneur: The Beginning is to create an interactive coffee and smoothie menu that allows the player to customize his own coffee or smoothie brands and name them, so when the customer requests them, the player only has to select the name from the menu and Buck will make it automatically (e.g. Hawaiian coffee from coffee sock with two servings of sugar, one vanilla cream, and one dash of cinnamon might be called "Hula Sweetness"). Perhaps you could do the same for Super Penguin Chef. Then some judges could request the custom dish and give the player additional flexibility with the questing system.

There's no such thing as a custom dish, though: either a recipe creates a valid dish -- one of the 58 62 (and counting!) valid combinations, or it ends up as a disaster.

You will probably be able to create a dish out of your recipe book in the final version. There are already events (in the WIP, not in the public version) that require you to pick a recipe from your book.

Suggestion:
I'm not sure if this is in, but it certainly isn't announced clearly if so, but if you die in a dungeon, you should have a penalty. Not like "you lose money" or anything, I'm glad that's not a thing, but rather something along the lines of "your customers only like the food half as much because you kept bleeding on all of the stuff."
Or even "by the time you regained consciousness, it was already past dinner-time"

I'd prefer the half-liking thing, it's funnier to me.

The punishment for dying is to end your adventuring day. I can understand why you'd expect a harsher punishment, but the overriding philosophy for the game is to reward your successes instead of punishing your failures. For more obsessive players, the fact that your number of party wipes is recorded and displayed at the end of the game is punishment enough.

Besides that, I also want to encourage exploration and minimize reliance on save-scumming. (It's unavoidable that save-scumming will be beneficial, but there are measures in place to minimize those benefits.)

I just feel that it makes the wings less valuable due to you just alternatively just dying to make a quick exit. There's nothing stopping you from just spending the rest of your characters life force on just grinding the rest of the time away until they're dead.

Sure. The optimal play is to work your characters to the bone each and every day. The practical reality, though, is that sometimes you just want to leave the dungeon without having to wait for your characters to die.

Have you written deep dialogue for the Honking Penguin yet? I can ALMOST relate to him but not quite, because in real life i both honk AND barf. I love your Guitar Hero inspired battles though, keep it up!

For balance reasons, barfing is limited to contest judge The Wobbler. I appreciate your understanding regarding this sensitive matter.
