@ Chronoboy:
That would be great!
About the dialogue, I'm no native speaker, so I can't check if it sounds natural. That's why I didn't want to have write it.
@ Master K:
Good to hear you're taking part.
What would you like to do?

BitBucket also supports Mercurial which is easier to use than Git and is very similar in syntax to Subversion. I prefer Mercurial over Git, personally. I can provide you the basics of using Mercurial in IRC if you wanted to learn.

I'd be happy to assign you mainly to the writing task as well, we'll need lot's of texts. Not only for the main protegonists, but also for NPCs and random messages ect.
If you are an native englishspeaker, could you also check it Chronoboys and my texts sound natural?
You could also help BMR with graphics, if he's need help with that, but I suggest you don't both work on the same field thoug.
Luckily, there are the usuall diffrent types of graphics like maps, enemies, attacks, Hero, NPC, ect. I uploaded some example.

@Mari:
Well, in the writing aspect, I am indeed a native english speaker. I'm always willing to prune your grammar if you are not quite content with it or are unsure.
As for graphics, I can do most all graphics, minus walkabouts. I have fairly fine hero graphics, decent enemy graphics, decent map tiles, and all that.
So, when is this project starting, or has it started?

@Master K:
It will be good for the texts Chronoboy and I write, if you'd check them.
And for graphics, it's best if you talk to BMR, I think he wanted to focus on tiles, but I don't want to say anything wrong.
Actually, we are on our way getting started (or already started).
I'd say planning is mostly done, everyone knows more or less that he'll do.
At first, we need to figure out a way to share our files with eachother. Chronoboy suggested using Mercurial, wich can be used with bitbucket.
So, we should figure out how to use this programm and make accounts on bitbucket, if we want to use bitbucket. (We should read their End UserAgreement first.)
If we can't figure out how to use Mecurial, we'll have to do management of resources (pictures, textbox.txts ect.) manually. I guess that would work, but it also could be messy.

We could also share files over FTP, and hopefully everyone involved understands how to download/upload data from an FTP server. If not, it's still easier to learn than Mercurial. On the server-side of the FTP, I can version control the files myself, so if we need to go back because something broke or got corrupted, we can.
So, let me know if everyone is Down with using FTP or not. I can bring up a server relatively quick.
It's me doubleposting here, but this topic was lacking action a bit.
I've send you a PM, so please macke sure to read it and look on the things I've uploaded in dropbox.
We should start working on the project now, even if we don't have a server yet.
Let's beginn!
BMR will make an UFO and a Treehouse tileset.
I'll write some scripts and check on the classmates dialogues.
@Chonoboy and Master K:
Would you like to work on the texts for the main characters?
We need an Intro scene, showing CoolGuy walking to school (I can make the script, you can do the textboxes), maybe as an Flashback telling from his memory how the story (game) began.
It should make the players gain intrest in the game, so maybe raise some questions that we'll answer soon.
Then we need the scene in school, where CoolGuy talks to Nerd, he makes fun of him and Nerd unexpectedly talks back and asks him out for a duel after school.
You can use the sene in the old version as inspiration.

Chronoboy - Texts and Map layout,
Master K - Texts, Grammar cheking and maybe Sprites
Marionline - the rest (also texts, scripting, keeping things together, ect )

Some updates on the work:
I stared drawing Nerd's Hero sprite. I still lokes a bit odd. :/
A temporary title, can be replaced with a better.
I've written a pseudo script for the nerds dictionary, so far there are 10 textboxes. If anyone in the team feels like double checking or polishing up the sentences, that would be nice.
plotscript, random dictionary, begin
switch (random(1,10)) do,
begin
case (1) do (show textbox (...)) # Mecury is the planet closest to the sun.
case (2) do (show textbox (...)) # Venus is the second closes planet to the sun
case (3) do (show textbox (...)) # The Earth is the only place where life is possible in our solarsystem, but in the galaxy there are several earth-like planets.
case (4) do (show textbox (...)) # Mars is also called 'the red planet' it's surface has redish color. On Mars Olympus Mons, the lagest mountain in the solarsystem can be found.
case (5) do (show textbox (...)) # Jupiter is by far the largest planet in the solarsystem and it's satellite Ganymede is lager than Mecury. The great red spot a storm on Jupiters surface, that exists for abvout 300 years.
case (6) do (show textbox (...)) # Saturn is an outer planet ot of solar system. The gas giant is famous for its rings.
case (7) do (show textbox (...)) # Uranus is a lage planet, it's atmosthere contains some ice, so it is called an ice giant. Uranus needs 84 years to circle the sun.
case (8) do (show textbox (...)) # Neptune needs 146 years to circle the sun. It's temeratur is on average about -200°C. It#s satellite Trion is the sevthen largest Moon in the solar system.
case (9) do (show textbox (...)) # The Asteroid belt lies between Mars and Jupiter.The objects in the asteroidbeld can be several kilometers lage and are mainly made of rocks ands minerals and sometimes ice.
case (10) do (show textbox (...)) # Untill the year 2006 it was belived there were 9 Planets in our solarsytem, but Pluto, who is smaller than the earth's moon was decaled to be a draf-planet. The lagest drawf planet is the solarsystem is Eris.
case (11) do (show textbox (...))# The Sun is literally the star in our solarsystem. Every other object , like planets or comets circles round it as it's the largest object in our solar system.
end
And i've gathered some ideas for a quiz, wich could be added to game the reward could be some item.
# Q1: Wich planet takes longer to circle the sun? Mars or Earth?
# A1: Mars
# Q2: Who has more moons? Mars or Earth?
# A2: Mars
# Q3: Where lies the asteroid belt?
# A3: Between Mars and Jupiter
# Q4: What is the Olympus Mons?
# A4: The largest mountain in the solar system
I hope to add more soon. I tried to think of idea for an intro, but I didn't like what I wrote. I'll retry an other day.

1. Mercury is the planet that is closet to the sun.
2. Venus is the second closest planet to the sun.
3. Earth is the only place where life is possible in our solar system. However, there are several earth-like planets within the galaxy.
4. Mars is also known as 'The Red Planet'. This is because its surface has reddish color.
5. The largest mountain in the solar system is Olympus Mons, which can be found on Mars.
6. Jupiter is, by far, the largest planet in our solar system and its satellite Ganymede is larger than Mercury. The Great Red Spot is a storm on Jupiter's surface, and has existed for about 300 years.

9. Neptune needs 146 years to circle the sun. It's temperature is on average about -200°C. Its satellite, Triton, is the seventh largest Moon in the solar system.
10. The Asteroid Belt lies between Mars and Jupiter.The objects in the asteroid belt can be several kilometers large and are mainly made of rocks, minerals, and sometimes ice.
11. Until the year 2006, it was known that there were 9 Planets in our solar system. The ninth planet was Pluto, who is smaller than the earth's moon. It was eventually declared to be a dwarf-planet. The largest dwarf planet is the solar system is Eris.
