Some screenshots of what I did today with help :

I added rain to my monster game. The game needs a name...





Anyhow it's now a nameless game with rain every 100 steps for another 100 steps on that map. Next I'll make the rain effect if a rain-monster shows up or not.
But I'm feeling unsure about it, as I can only place ca. 59 monsters in the game, that's like 4 monsters per maps.
So the rain would -on a certain map- redurce the number to 3 monsters and in a special case a forth. I think only 4 monsters per map are a bit boring.

Hopefully I can make battle intresting by using elements and attacks.

Is your "monster game" a Creature Catcher like Pokemon or Dragon Warrior Monsters?

Yes, it's a monster catch game like pokemon.
I hope to make it more random than pokemon, so that it's fun to play for me, even if i was the one who made the game.

The game itself is rather in tech-demo stage, and the story elements were not added yet. At the moment I'm happily implementing environment things/effects, I plan to add the story element as last things to the game.
If I have more to look at I'll upload asome kind of tech demo.

Those puzzles look great! good work!

So far this weekend I have made 5 new levels and fixed 2 bugs in Bob the Hamster Dirt Dig.

I also added one portrait to Wandering Hamster, cleaned up a few text boxes and scripts, and discovered a few bugs that need fixing

Oh, and thank you for the compliment. I was just surprised that the game is finally getting updated V

One more day left for the Work-on-yo-game weekend September 2013, what progress will be done?! Let us know what happens!

Personally, if you view the video, I head leftward. What I shall be working on next is right-ward.

Funny thing, as I was looking in my sketches, I noticed that I have yet to finish the plans to the last part of area 3. Area 4 doesn't have much planning into it as it's not too large, it's more so a straight shot to the final boss and his chamber, I pretty much had that done before area 2's sketches.

Anywho, once I finish and test out area 2's layout, I'll have to start up stat calculation fun once more. Thankfully, the way I have the game set up, it's fairly controlled. Still, I have 2 enemy sets to prepare and a few boss fights to set up. Then I guess it's up for private testing round 2.

I was planning on having public testing a thing after area 3 is completed, but for personal motivation's sake, I think I'm going to hold out until the game is for the most part completed before I make a public release. Essentially, I'll release the almost final version. It'll likely lack all the sound effects there will be, and the music will be mostly borrowed from other games, but it'll be fully playable for what I desire it to be. And once the true final version is released, I'll be seeking some help with preparing the game for an OUYA release. I, unfortunately, lack an OUYA to test it with, though...

The game will be free, so don't worry. It's meant to be an example turn-based rpg for the OHRRPGCE anyway.

Sunday of the work on your game weekend... I should feel more awake, but I'm still tired.

This morning, I tried to get the plant growing script to work, without sucssess.
Confused <- that's that I looked like yesterday evening and this morning ...

Anyway, here are some screenshots.
The number indicates how many steps you walked, which should trigger the alter NPC to make the plant grow.



That's what the plant sprite looks like, but there are several version I'll put ingame once this works:



I also made a large table with Kerli's comments to find the cases where hints are missing. I found some, so I'll write more textboxes and add them to the script.
Oh, next time I'll try a more linear game, the script grew so much because the player goes back and forth and the puppet sais different things eachtime...
I'll need to think about funny and helpfull hints and maybe eat some more breakfast. Smile

I've been testing some of my battles and whatnot. Also I redrew the overworld.


Unfortunately, it seems that because I drew this map the way I did, many individual tiles are more than three colors.

(In hindsight, saving my PNG copy in 4x instead of 3x was probably overkill)

technically, you can have 4 colours a maptile, since you're not going to need transparency with them.

but it looks cool
