A time off has been had, and only one tester has really got back any feedback for me.
Time to prepare for the next test version.

Off the top of my head, here is the list of things what need accomplishing:

-Everything


Okay okay, real list:

-more sound effects
-backdrop additions and improvement to current one(s)
-tileset for area 2
-monsters to be set up, and moves to be had
-2 boss monsters
-area set up (obviously)
-puzzle scripts
-chests

So yeah, there's that. Hopefully I'm not missing anything, I'll add to the list if I have, as this helps me out as well as gets up the hype for the game.
And as a note on the ridiculous name, it's truly just a placeholder name. This game doesn't really have anything to do with mercy, nor really mungbeans (though, at the request of James, there is a mungbean enemy), and that's where you scrubs come in. I'm leaving it up to vote for what you all feel this game should be named.
I beg you to hold suggestions until the public demo arrives, though. Once that gets released, I'll start taking names I find potentially cool, and if I don't have a "THIS SHALL BE WHAT THE GAME IS CALLED" from the gathering, I'll compile the coolest names into a poll vote. And then voters away!

Who likes updates? I suppose some are due to arrive, as I am going to working on tilesets a bit. I'm still trying to figure out a decent way of handling things.
Would anyone want to see anything? Hear anything? ....anything at all?
Not that I actually expect anyone to respond, what with the extensive server crashes that seem to be around lately, and the general disinterest I seem to be getting back.

Here's my current progress, ain't that purdy? It needs more polish, I'm thinking of crest-ed drapes, I'm not sure what else.
For inner-walls, I'm going to use generic blocks, likely, to save on time...I may actually put the effort forth to make real walls, though.

I'm gonna work on that tapestry thing I was speakin' of, and will try to start up makin' the next area. I'll probably work on backgrounds, too, by the way.
Anyone want me to show anything?

I can't stop watching Weird Al's "Dare To Be Stupid"...

Oh, and I made pretty. I'm now going to start making the actual area 2, now.
It's, of course, larger than area 1, but there's a spot you can find a healing spot (for a price), and half of it's optional, something you'll find with area 3 as well.
Oh, I just remembered that I forgot to make generic wall blocks, minimally, though I'm thinking I'm gonna make real wall tiles for inner-walls. I also forgot to make push-blocks. I should do that. It'll make the whole area quicker to make, since....well, you'll see how the game works.

I'm a tad excited to get this game out, since, you know, it'll be a FULL rpg, you know, not demo-tastic. Plus being a turn-based RPG, I did intend this to be the "example" game for turn-based games.

If anyone wants to make non-already-copywritten music for this, feel free, I'd feel better about distributing it. (Also, I don't know if James wants to let it come with the OHRRGPCE or not, I doubt it, but....I dunno, I'm sorta making it as such a type of thing, but some may be turned off by the ..."simple" design of the non-monster characters)

There's a fairly decent chance of my working on this tonight.

I still don't know what to do about the collision detection errorness of the things in area 2. I'm thinking of maybe combining forced-movement pads with spots where the warping balls are connected so that you're forced to commit to a minimum of 3 tile movement line to dodge them.

This, sadly, is really not what I want, but I'll just have to deal with it as I'm barely a novice programmer as-is and lack the ability to create a collision detection that ACTUALLY works instead of "if the npc and hero are within a certain vicinity of one another" or "if you step on an NPC but not when the npc steps on YOU".

So yeah.

Area revising will be done against my will and there will be much rejoicing. Thankfully, this will only pertain to a couple rooms, as timing puzzles are only fresh for so long a period of time.

Know what idea I have?

I'll try to make something similar to the energy ball things.

What I'm thinking is making these hands that reach out of "walls", or something. I'm thinking maybe using the conveyor timer thing again. It'll also provide something for more decor too, I guess.

Here's the grand new sprite to replace the energy balls!



Basically the claws lurch out of...well, I'm not sure yet. I'm thinking of making some sort of little grates or something, but they come out and when they retreat they close up. When you step on a conveyor belt, you have to watch out for them, basically just a correct timing is all that's required. They grab you and take you back to a certain spot on the map. This should work.

And once again, the day is saved, thanks to: Meowskivich's MacGuyvering skills!
