I adore much of that which comes from the masters over at pixeljoint.com (wayofthepixel.net is a great site as well) and I thought I'd share Cure's fantastic Pixel Art Tutorials he has posted on their forums.

Whether you're new to pixel art or need a refresher, read this. It helps with larger sprite art more often than with the lowest res pixel art, but it will help you decide how best to approach things like enemy sprites, hero sprites, and anything of that size. Heck, make some backgrounds using this information and you'll be golden!
Be sure to browse around pixeljoint.com and wayofthepixel.net too, they're full of bold and boisterous artists looking to make everyone pixelate even better!
I... I still exist... somewhere.

Thanks, it's definitely worth adding to the wiki page (so I did). It's pretty clear and comprehensive -- feels more like an .. 'introductory guide to the world of pixel art' than a tutorial per se
. Oh. And there is this fantastic thread on Pixelation about RPG perspective, I added that too; you might like that if you haven't already seen it.
