48 MP for ~200 Damage is too good of a deal to not use it!

If I had to balance this thing, I would probably revert it to its previous behavior of simply activating the crit check twice and applying the extra MP cost on a successful crit.

Yeah, Dirk+Backstab is a little *too* awesome.

If you want to keep the MP behavior, I could suggest that a balanced nerf would be to base the increased MP requirement on the attack's crit multiplier somehow, rather than using a flat 50%

It would also be awesome if the attack selection drop-down could show MP cost adjusted for dirk-assisted crits.

This is an excellent idea. Maybe CritMPcost = (MPcost * CritMult * 3 / 4) or something along those lines.

(edit) and attacks that don't deal damage will probably continue to be 150%

The real test will be getting us to put away our Power Belts. Congrats on beating Slimehold, by the way! That Gavel is kind of like a super Victory Sword from what I gather.

With all these great new buffs, Angel Bracers will overtake them soon enough!

While I don't ever see you taking advantage of this (or being taken advantage of, to my memory), Angel Bracers don't prevent debuffs that don't deal direct damage, so you could still be Shrunk or Shrink someone else. You can even be poisoned -- Toxic Spew still goes through, IIRC.

Meanwhile, should it ever become an issue, the Angel Bracers only prevent the first 5000 damage of an attack.

Uhh...
According to the Crit MP shown in my pulldown, that should have cost 51 MP, leaving me with 1. For some reason instead it gave me -31 Zombie
