As you may know by now, Windows 8 is out, and with each new OS, OHR compatibility issues come up. Windows 7 is still having some unresolved compatibility problems, so I wonder what new problems will arise with 8. I know a more thorough Win 8 bug test is coming, but if anyone here has Windows 8, I would like for them to run CUSTOM and GAME just to see if they will even work.
I would also like for the following somewhat OHR-related programs to be tested on Windows 8, whose links can be found here. Others can be found here.
Anvil Studio
Ultimate Paint (hasn't updated in years)
GIMP
Audacity
Musagi
wait, wut. Windows 8 is already out? But windows 7 came out, like, just 2.5 years ago. I'm suspecting something along the lines of "Windows 8: The return of Vista" or something to go down....

Oh, I know Gabe said that. Among other things.
And due to some things he says I'm quite certain the OHRRPGCE will not work on Win8. Which is why I said Return of Vista. No one liked it either. But this one will probably be for whole new reasons....

I've tried it. It's like they made an operating system that doesn't operate. Their new windows desktop or whatever the frak it is looks like something ripped from the old AOL homepage back in the 1990's, except not as pretty, and half of it is advertisements.
And I can't figure out how to close any popup windows. At all. You remember the whole Minimize/Maximize/Close buttons at the corner of EVERY OS EVER? They don't exist for Win 8. And its not like you can load up Firefox or Chrome either. No Alt+Tab, no CTRL+Alt+Del, nothing.
ALLEGEDLY, Windows 8 is actually just a shell for Win 7. That is, there's a way to access the old Windows 7 desktop, move around files like you're not some idiot and actually get work done.
The fact of the matter is that they've designed their whole operating system to function around TABLETS, complete with a windows App store to compete with Apple. The only major difference being that Apple at least has a distinction between its tablet OS and its regular OS, and YOU CAN CLOSE APPLICATIONS/WINDOWS ON AN APPLE.
To friends long gone, and those I've yet to meet - thank you.

Your avatar has never been more appropriate, Fenrir.
I've also heard of the Windows App Store, and I'm terrified that this trend of app stores* is going to eventually bowl over and eliminate my favored "purchase/download/install an .exe from any developer in the world" option.
* Whether or not the apps cost money is irrelevant to my gripes. All the apps in the world can be free of charge and I'd still complain; I'd almost certainly be missing out on the amazing things that independent and foreign developers come up with on a regular basis but are unable to distribute through official means for whatever reason.

You mean OHR compatibility problems on Windows 7? I can't remember there being any. There was one Vista-specific problem (which was apparently a problem in Vista). If I'm wrong, please correct me.
Fyre briefly tested the OHR on Windows 8 half a year ago. I don't expect there to be any problems; Microsoft cares hugely about backwards compatibility.

Only Windows 7 OHR issue I can think of is that GAME crashes when certain songs loop, or if really short songs play, it will crash instantly.

Things might have changed since the preview releases and betas. Besides, I still need the other listed programs tested.
Am sure the ohr will run fine. I've played with it and my hunch was right that people are over-reacting.
In a nutshell, that metro menu thing *is* the new start menu, hover over in the bottom left corner. A super customizable fancy start menu that's tablet friendly. Pretty much still 7, more or less.
