This game's probably more fun in short bursts on the Vita. I played the PS4 version. After a big mess with the game refusing to load, Sony gave me my money back but let me keep the game. It's a fun couple of hours but it could be better.

Hohokum

In movie news, I saw Frank this weekend and it's one of the year's best. I'll write a full review when I have time.

So the majority of s6 I actually thought felt a bit tiresome. There were usually some good ideas floating around, but something just felt lacking in the execution. There was also more romance involved that rarely worked well, and even when it did (Lessons), it wasn't particularly interesting or emotional for me (Lessons owes more to Inner Light than it does to the new character). By the time I finished Descent 2, I was kinda ready to get to the end. Also, with school back in session I have teaching responsibilities on top of my math responsibilities again.

So yeah, I only watched a few s7 episodes. Inheritance was nice, and Lower Decks worked great as a one-off kind of episode. It was especially nice to see Worf play the mentor. Liked but didn't necessarily love Preemptive Strike.

I really wanted to post though to mention being blown away by how perfect of a closer All Good Things is. I remembered enjoying it, and watching it again now was really special. So many little details and callbacks - I'm glad someone sat down and said, "Let's get Tomalak on screen one last time." Great writing and execution, and a truly great performance by Stewart especially as Raving Old Man. It's one of those stories where the idea outweighs any logical plotholes in the script. Those final lines from Q about what exploration really means, and then the final scene at the poker table, say to me that this really was a special show when it was at its best.

Having now watched most of Wobbler's picks except in s7, I don't think my earlier 'lists' would change much, except AGT needs to be in the Top episodes. Maybe to round out a Top 5, I would also include Deja Q, or possibly Inner Light. As a slightly different list, the episodes I've probably thought the most about after watching would probably be:
Offspring
Darmok
Perfect Mate
True Q
All Good Things

PS: As an extra aside, I also saw Blue Jasmine a few days ago, and that was a pretty great film.

EDIT: Forgot, I wanted to make sure I thanked you, Wobbler, for the list. It made it a lot easier to go back and watch the show; I might not have done so at all without an easy guideline on hand. Thanks man.

Really liked seeing all your Trek Thoughts! It was a good time, everyone else should do it too.

I really liked this game the first time, liked it even more the second. It has one slow part (the first act of Pittsburgh) and the game play takes some warming up to, but once I got it a hang of it it was fine. Fantastic storytelling and cinematography! This review's basically split in two parts, only the second part is spoiler-heavy.

Speaking of Star Trek, I recently watched a little of the animated series, which to my delight is streamable on Netflix. I watched the episode where the crew goes to the center of the universe and befriends the devil, and then they all get put on trial by fake puritans

Okay, that was a fairly inaccurate synposis, but it was still fun to watch.

I never watched the animated series as a kid (didn't get any channels that played it) but my local library had novelizations of the animated series episodes and I ate them up hungrily.

This is how you do downloadable game content, dummies. A standalone story that doesn't require the base game and is probably better overall.

Movie review! It's been a while.

A decent movie that could have been easily better.

Finding screenshots for this review was crazy difficult! All I had to work with were the trailers, most of which completely misrepresent the film's visuals. The film is largely in black and white for the first half. The trailers show color versions of those black and white scenes, presumably because people would be appalled otherwise. For example: The old couple that walked out of our screening when they realized with horror that the movie was in black and white.

I'd bet my slimedollars I'm the last person here who hadn't played this game. It was pretty good, except for the fighting parts.

I have actually only played the first hour of Earthbound myself, but this makes me want to return to it.

For the longest time that's all I had played too. It didn't catch my attention as a kid at all. I'm surprised so many people seemed to like it as kids! It seems a lot more meaningful to adults.

Earthbound was the first rpg my family ever actually bought. Oddly enough, the only RPG my parents have really actually loved.
