Looks like it's still $50 at local stores, I don't think I can pay that much for a Kirby game (or almost any game.) If I can find one closer to $20 I'll pick it up.

I haven't seen enough movies to really contribute anything worthwhile. I'm not much of moviegoer, really.
Into Darkness was fun for what it was, but kinda made no sense when you sat back and thought about it. I guess these new Star Trek movies are ACTION movies, plain and simple.
Man of Steel kinda sucked, the more I think about it. I might be influenced here by the fellas over at Red Letter Media. After seeing it I vaguely felt that it wasn't very good, but they helped me pinpoint some reasons why.
Wolverine was fun for some parts, but some of the character and plot details were just awful and made no sense at all. And the whole thing felt a bit, I don't know, tangential? I mean, I guess that's the way the single-character X-Men comics always felt anyways. The best scene of the whole movie was probably the post-credits scene.

Into Darkness is definitely action/spectacle first, plot second, but that's a huge improvement over the action first, no plot nature of the three Next Generation movies.
Wolverine's character motivations worked fine for me until the final act where everything went stupid. God was that Yoshida is really alive! And evil! twist stupid. It undermined so much of the film. I actually really liked that it was a tangential, unimportant story in the long run though. I've seen enough world threatening events in comic book movies.
I too like Man of Steel less the more I think about it, though I still had fun.
Thanks for the response!

You know, this reminds me of a post from Pepsi Ranger a little while ago, who mentioned how irritating all of these "big final twists" were getting in action movies. The more I think about it, the more right he is.
I don't mind Wolverine's motivations in the movie so much. It's more everyone else.
The old boyfriend? What the hell made him change allegiances at the end? In fact, what made him want to help Pappy to begin with anyways? I thought he cared about the girl, not about the grandfather.
The bad doctor viper-girl? Did she have any reason to want to do anything? Just to get paid by Gramps, I guess?

They're the two worst characters in the movie but part of me kind of likes having a henchman whose entire motivation is "do her job, get rich."

I agree on the doctor young person being continually portrait as a victim when really she isn't.
I'm playing the game and I'm like "oh, looks like she's gone done been stupid and now we all have to suffer the consequences for it. oh, pity her? pff, she deserves it."
She pretty much deserves what she gets, imo.

She's just a terribly written character in general. I know games love "scientist does something obviously stupid and terrible and regrets it later" characters but there's never a moment where she stops to say "maybe I regret tying Bane up in the basement and mutating him for science."
What she really deserved was to have another doctor call her out on having zero morals as a doctor. You can't have everyone in the establishment be corrupt or else it just feels stupid to save them. The whole reason Gordon exists is to show that even though there's corruption in the police force, there's still geniune good people too.

I've been working on this one on and off for months and I'm happy to say it's finally done. I realize I like this movie more than most people did and I acknowledge it's got a ton of problems but it really worked for me. I put a ton of work into this one so I hope people actually read it! It just came out on DVD so now's a good time to post the review.
The main review is largely spoiler-free. The four mini-essays that follow it are not. Watch this movie and talk about it with me bros.
Maybe some day I'll finish my Prometheus review. Maybe.

I'll definitely be reading this. I really liked Oblivion myself.
I haven't seen Prometheus yet but I really want to.
Also, random question, do you take requests on movies to review? I'd really like to see your thoughts on a few of my personal favorites. If not that's cool too, just thought I'd ask.
