It...sounds like you don't need a script at all, honestly. A Menu that has the various hunts with an "appear if" tag would do nicely. Sorta like;

Code:
"Gotta turn a hoont in den?"

On Hunt? (y/n)

Y: Hunt appears
n: Hunt does not

Complete?  (y/n)

Y: "Nice jeorb Homstrad."
N: "ey ey ey, you aint got dat dere done dere yet dere."


It might be clunky, but it'd be easier for the player to keep track of, imo.

Well, thanks you two. I don't know what approach I'm gunna go with though. But I still need a random on-demand plotscripter for AR-PUH-GUH! for things that I don't want to script or when I need help. Sure, you guys can help out at anytime, but I'm talkin' someone with mad-scripting skillz that can do things for me in private. you know, keeping some things neat surprises for players.

But in other news, I think I'm done working on what I usually will refer to as "the ol' arp", a.k.a. AR-PUH-GUH!.

What I got accomplished was setting up two store menus, finished making the rest of the anti-type items, got done a wind attack for each the warrior and energist, and I fixed up old element texts to accommodate the changes. There are a few other things I got done, but I'm still eagerly awaiting this "alphabetsy" release of the OHRRPGCP so I can get that insect-fix for copy and gluing slice collaborations. After that, I just need to doodle some new NPCs, make some more meaningless text, and slap it together haphazardly.

Figured you dudes and dudettes would like a check list to see what all needs to be done.

dancing monkey button?

make a tag for signclops so baconlabs won't unwittingly get smote. or rather, the future baconlabses of tomorrowsterday. baconlabs of today will likely see it coming

Anyone want to help me make a dancing monkey button? Basically do one o' those plotscripts that makes an npc dance (or rather moves and spin around I guess). It's not complicated to make, no, but again, one of those things I don't want to do myself.
Here's about how the area is for the dancing monkey:

XOOOO
OOOOO
OOOOO
CCCCC

X is the point the monkey will need to start and end, and it's an overhead tile so you won't see the monkey within it.

O is open dance area

and C is open, but it's mostly covered in some cage-fencing, thus making not the most optimum showing area.

Imagine any tune you want, either me or one of the more competent music makers for the game will make something up to go with it.

I have a question for you folk, should I or shouldn’t I make the items that teach Portalists usable in battle by other characters, though they will be usable only once. Of course, they will perform the moves that will be taught by items as well.

I like the idea actually, providing that the items are in limited supply. Otherwise the lines between classes would blend too much.

limited as in you'd have to buy the items over and over to use their abilities, which would prove to be very unworth it most the time. It's just something, like, you find some off of enemies or in item spheres and you don't want a portalist, you can use them in a battle to get one use out of it. After all, any move-teaching item will not be a cheap price.

I can't think of where I've seen this before in a video game (the closest I got was the bombs, rockets, and bazookas in Earthbound - a nebulous connection), but I think it's a pretty good concept. All it provides is a little bonus if you happen upon extra Portalist items and/or decide not to use a Portalist in your party. You've pretty much described all the benefits and downsides, and I think giving these items high prices at shops (exactly how high is a matter of opinion) will keep classes in balance.
Here's another perk - if the player decides the item isn't worth using in battle, and has no Portalist, the high price of said item will yield a nice cash bonus should the player decide to sell it at a shop.

I'm trying to figure out how much I want them, it's on the sub-list for the "balancing" I need to do.

Speaking of balancing, tonight I made the character stats balanced out how I desire them to be. Next comes equipment and items, in that order, and then enemy stats. I think I'm going to write down on paper the weapons (again) and then I'll be doing at least some chart drawing for how I'm going to balance weapons.

Eh, maybe. I dunno, I'm gettin' pretteh tired. See you all tomorrow.

:P I know it's weird to ask (considering that you stated that you won't be using it much), but could you hashtag with #OHR or #OHRRPGCE? It'd make it easier to find OHR related tweets that way across the board (and therefore easier to find other OHRRPGCE game devs).

Sorry, it's just something that'd come in handy when trying to find stuff (and cross promote! :P).

OHR is many different acronyms, I think the most common one is Office of Human Resources.

OHR is a hebrew word, I think it means "light" and is very frequently used in the names of temples and schools.

OHR is an adequate abbreviation for the OHRRPGCE when you are talking to people on Slime Salad, because everybody knows what you are talking about, but I think for twittering #OHRRPGCE is a better choice. Ir if you really desperate want to save a few chars, #OHRRPG
