Since DUNGEONMEN is going to be in the running, I'll go ahead and log my own "feature request":

- Turn-based battles: the option to have battles work like "you input all four hero's commands, the enemies choose their commands, the commands execute in order of speed, repeat".

I will eventually be submitting an updated version of FDL. It still needs a lot of rebalancing because of the changes in encounters I've already made, not to mention added content and an expanded storyline, but one day it will be finished! Expect the HotOHR version to be the 50% halfway point.

That being said, here is my feature request:

After working on Doom RPG, I've realized that there could be some options that would make my life as a game maker so much easier. First, I'd like to see customized battle animations without having to create a CBS. Probably easier said than done, I know. I'd at last like to see an increase in the number of battle-sprite frames so I can fake this.

The second thing I'd like to request is an option for enemies to "transmogrify" themselves on death. This would be great for creating some epic boss battles, or even a way to place corpses on the screen, something which has been attempted more than once.
Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy... So here's some lunchmeat... Sandwich, maybe?

I have updated the requests list. I think it is current based on everything people have said in this thread.

Also, I encourage Spoonweaver and mjohnson092088 to pick new requests. You have both selected extremely difficult requests. Battlescripting and advanced animation features are both planned in the long-term, but they are both so complicated, and it is so important to to them correctly that requesting them for contest prizes isn't going to make them happen any faster, so you are most likely just going to win the (tiny) bug failure bounties of $1.50 and $2.00 respectively.

EDIT: mjohnson092088, your second request, for transmogrify-on-death is reasonable, would you like to make that your main request, and choose something else for your if-you-win request? (And by the way, the second if-you-win request only goes to the contest winners in each category, so nobody really needs to pick a second request until after the voting is over)

Oh, so I'm no longer a potential contestant now? I still haven't made a request myself. (still haven't turned in my game, but it's coming soon enough. my monster calculations are pittering along slowly, but after that the rest should just fall into place as it's pretty much all done.)

Yay! I was just poking fun at you anyway :p

If I do make a request I think it'll be to have an in-creator screen editor complete with keyboard controls. We talked about this in another thread some time ago, but the list doesn't say anyone requested it, so yeah...
I'll let you know for sure when I get my game's next release out.

Well, I was making the second request mostly because I wasn't sure if my first request was doable quite yet. So, yes, I'd like to make that my main request.

I don't have a request. I don't do anything especially ambitious with the engine and therefore don't really test it's limitations.

It would be great if shops were more customizable, but that's definitely a huge undertaking.

If someone else would like to suggest a request for me, that would be fine.

One of the motivations for having the bugfix/feature request as an incentive for joining the contest is to help James and TMC pare down the official buglist at http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/buglist.php. So if you don't have something you want specifically, then maybe consider scanning this list for something important or beneficial, and then say something like, "I'd like Bug 811 vanquished, please," or whatever floats your boat. This will not only benefit the developers who can't seem to shrink the list fast enough, but also those who requested the bugs be fixed or features implemented who actually do want to see these things taken care of.

When you join the contest, don't feel pressured if you can't think of anything to request yourself. Just consult the buglist and find something that's manageable that you think the community would appreciate having fixed or implemented. The contest was never meant to isolate designers, but to make the engine and its game library better.

I still want to be able to edit the values of a palette from within Custom even if people told me I was crazy for wanting that before.

But seriously, master palette editing in custom is not that crazy. Editing it external editors is much easier than it used to be, but I can see value in having a built-in feature for manually tweaking master palettes in-game.

For my bugfix/feature request... fixing bug 743 (if an equipped item makes one of your stats hit a stat cap, unequipping it doesn't work right and may even drop your stat to 0 or worse, negative) would be nice.

Assuming this hasn't been fixed yet, anyway.

Long story short, I broke up with my girlfriend. In the following confusion as she gathered her things and stormed out, the power cord for my laptop was lost, and it is now dead. Needless to say, I probably won't be entering the HotOHR contest after all. It's gonna be awhile before I have some money to buy a new one, especially since she screwed me over with the rent by stopping payment of the check she wrote. Oh well.
