I wanna know what my fellow forum-goers' tastes in music are, so let's take go!
I love Punk-Rock, particularly The Dead Kennedys(Government Flu, The Man With The Dogs) and Gren Day(East Jesus Nowhere)
Other than that, I don't like much Rock music, I listen to Aphex Twun and classical music. I do NOT like Dubstep. Not sure why it's so popular, every bit I've listened to was uninteresting.
Your turn. ^_^
I really admire the Japanese band, Ruins. 'Skhanddraviza' is a personal favourite. The music of Michael Finnissy is a constant companion to me. Very exquisite stuff. I also adore Brian Ferneyhough's music. But the two which I refer to constantly are Beethoven and Bach. Sublime.
Well, I'll listen to pretty much anything occasionally, aside from the handful of songs/singers/bands that I just can't stand.
I probably listen to more older rock music (all different types, mainly from the 60s/70s/80s) than anything else, though.
FYS:AHS -- Swapping out some step-on NPCs for zones + each step script
Puckamon -- Not until the reserve party is expanded.[/size]

Not fond of dubstep either. It didn't resonate with me and was more confusing than anything. And some tracks are so full of bass that it makes me think that oil's oozing out of my ears.
One minor thing I do not like is shameless plagiarism, here's a random example; I once heard the Grape Garden map loop from Kirby's Adventure recorded and pasted into some random hip-hop song on the radio. It was bland and forgettable (so I can't remember anything specific about it), but unlike other songs, like that Super Mario Land rap, this was completely unrelated to the source and was almost certainly created without permission, and it's been bugging me ever since I listened to it two years ago.
As for likes, I enjoy all kinds of game soundtracks and occasionally movie soundtracks. I'd like to listen to the score to a Studio Ghibli film by itself someday. Classical music is great too, here's two of my random favorites: Gymnopedie and Bydlo.
I'd also say I enjoy rock music, but the only thing I'm basing this on is my fondness of the Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man X series' soundtracks.

Been listening to this album quite a bit, lately. It samples a lot of recent and past games and was featured in the recent Indie Music Bundle.

Hey, Bacon, you might like Aphex Twin's piano tracks. Try April 14th.
Depending on if what I'm listening to has vocals or not, I prefer the extreme of one or the other. If it's instrumental, it needs to be complex and interesting. If it's lyrical, it needs to be clever and drive a real message or point.
I dislike love songs. They're all the same and every single time I hear one, I feel like it's completely commercial.
Oh yeah, one of my favorite rock bands is Bad Religion.

I like:
non-poser indie pop, folk rock, progressive soul/neo-soul, soul in general, blues rock, post-rock, the more listenable post-punk, 60s sunshine pop, brazilian music in general, video game music, 60s garage music, late 80s underground, pub singer/songwriters, trip-hop, most any dark pop music, hip-hop concept albums, the more ridiculous grunge music (flaming lips, pixies, early nirvana), non-challenging jazz music, funny punk, 90s indie rock, shoegaze that doesn't sound like it was produced in a cave, country that doesn't sound like garth brooks, afrobeat
I dislike:
metal in all forms, progressive rock with lyrics, thug rap, poser indie music (ex. animal collective), trance music, electronic dance music in general, remixes of pop songs, anything backed by a record company that sounds like it was made in FL Studio, classic rock for the most part, popular country music, auto-tuned pop, late 70s/80s pop, free jazz, almost all popular music recorded before 1963, gregorian chant, emo/screamo, most hardcore punk, zeuhl/other cult genres (which are usually just progressive rock with a hat)
My favorite bands and artists:
Los Hermanos, Talking Heads, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, The Flaming Lips, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Interpol, Yasunori Mitsuda, Modest Mouse, Keiichi Suzuki, They Might Be Giants, Neil Young, Fiona Apple, Belle and Sebastian, Björk, Jonathan Coulton, Deltron 3030, The Kinks, Curtis Mayfield, Charles Mingus, Minutemen, Janelle Monáe, Neutral Milk Hotel, Nomo, The Replacements, Shogo Sakai, Slint, Nobuo Uematsu, Wilco
Also I love discussing music but it's rare I find someone I don't get in a screaming duel with over it, haha.

It all sounds the same to me. It was kind of a joke, though.

That's understandable. The musical materials were very limited. There were seven modes (though they occurred at a transposition often), a very limited vocal range (all mid to low male voices), and they tended to recycle a small group of texts, which are mostly meaningless unless you understand 6-9th century Latin. A later development (around the 13th Century) was a style known as 'Organum', which featured a larger structure, with pseudo-modulations, different ensemble groupings, and distinct rthymic patterns.
Really good stuff, and still based on chant.
So, another question? What are people's thoughts on free jazz? I notice it was on your dislike list.

Too deep for me, I guess? I've listened to a fair bit and just don't get anything out of it. (When I speak of free jazz, I'm talking about something like John Coltrane's Ascension, which sounds like pure improvisation over an hour or so.) I guess I just prefer structure in music.

I love Led Zeppelin, Mr.Page fuelled my obsessive guitar collecting (and back problems :S).
I also love Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Johnny Winter. They brought the blues back to rock.
I love a lot of Fats Domino, Leadbelly, Muddy Waters, BB King, T-Bone Walker and Chuck Berry and I've been listening to more and more blues over the past few months.
I've also been listening to a lot of Ry Cooder, I love slide guitar it's really awesome x).
And oddly enough... for some unknown reason I've been listening to Michael Angelo Batio lately, I don't even like speed metal that much.
