Well, in my game the default attack is usually a ranged shot with a gun. I have the default attack chained to one that reduces the users accuracy, to represent trigger happy spray n pray versus accurately picking your shots.

So if you hold the spacebar, you're going to get off a few shots right away, but then your accuracy is so shot you have to "ready" yourself (Not to mention the reduction in ammunition). ... Or you can go for a full spray n pray then mop up with some melee attacks or what have you. I also have abilities that add temporary defensive bonuses, so when you see an enemy begin to charge a powerful attack you are more inclined to go on the defensive.

I'm happy with the way it works, but it still needs some touching up and rebalancing. What do you think? Does it sound "gimmicky"?
