I'm sure most people here will know about H.P. Lovecraft.

So has anybody tackled the task at making an RPG game based in the H.P. Lovecraft world?

It would be interesting having a battle with the mythical Cthulhu, a boss battle if anything.

I'm pretty sure Fenrir's Vikings of Midgard had a storyline that dealt with the defeat of Chtulu. Aside from that, I was planning on making an Alone in the Dark 2D remake for the OHR after Doom RPG's first episode. THat one had a lot of Lovecfratian influence in it.

Spellshard has a Cthulu fight.

A few the bosses had lovecraftian roots. Shub-Niggurath, Yog-Sodoth, Cthulu, and Nylarlethotep.

I thought cthulu was cool until I actually played a game with him in it and realized he's fish people. The townspeople who act like zombies? No, they're just fish people.

From what I've read,
A) you couldn't have a battle with Cthulhu because he's beyond sanity or something
B) lovecraft setting is based in the ordinary world where the heroes have no special powers
C) if the hero has a special power, it is only there to destroy his sanity or allow them to realize how boned they are

(Thought that Spellshard fight was perhaps the most out of place monster in the entire game. It was like playing through super mario rpg to find the secret boss GAMARRA cause he's a turtle so it can fit)

Yeah, but it didn't fit right. Culex is like if Spellshard's super secret hard boss was... some ohr celeb like bob or whatever shout-out to dragon warrior. A nod to another game the devs made, that sort of thing.

You don't face Cthulu in the regular world in Spellshard though, you are facing him in hell... The main point was as the final optional boss I wanted something people would like. I'm pissed if you didn't like it, I didn't have to make him you know!

Anybody watched "The Last Lovecraft"?

Why are we all talking in spoilers?

I assumed it was so that the minions of the unspeakable ones wouldn't be able to track us so easily.

On a related note, I've got a Cthulhu Fish bumper sticker on my truck. I used to get invitations for church fund raising events and all manner of baptist revivals shoved into the door frame and tucked under the windshield wipers all the time before I obtained the sticker. Now I don't. There is clearly some sort of connection between these events that my mere mortal mind cannot possibly comprehend.
To friends long gone, and those I've yet to meet - thank you.
