Well either way, I think I've pretty much decided I'll be entering. Out of curiosity, how intense is the no ripping rule? Are we allowed to rip our own previous stuff? I personally don't care either way- just would like to know before I start this up!

The Urban dictionary defines a troll as:
One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument

First off, and I'd like to make this clear, Me and my friend made multiple accounts a long time ago to pass the slimebucks to this account in order to buy attacks and items in the Slime Arena so we could try to stand a chance against the bots in a game in which almost no body played. I told mogri myself, he reversed the actions. No one got hurt, nothing sinister took place. Even Mogri, the person that should have been the maddest about it, was barely upset at all. This was not done to make anyone upset, and it wasn't done in a sinister way. It was in no way trolling.

Next up we have my first post in this thread. How dare I voice an opinion. I must be a troll. I could have only posted that to troll you, and in no way could that have been what I really thought.

My game MUST be a troll game! It's about limited choices, just like your contest. It couldn't possibly be any good at all. How dare a game not take itself seriously and how dare I try to possible undermine the seriousness of the "contest" that is taking place here.

I don't really care if you hate me, think I'm a troll or won't let me in this "contest". I don't care what a random person that's been gone for over a year, only to show up and start flaming people, does at all. I don't care what the maker of a single game in the ohr thinks at all. A single game, which was made for the terrible game contest.

Yes, but it helps to know the judge before entering their contest or accepting their commission. What makes a game good to you? By creative, I'm inferring you mean games that do not use the built-in rpg mechanics? Would a rpg be fine?

As long as the graphics are originally yours, then it is fine. Same for music.

A RPG is fine. I just wouldn't recommend making it about an amnesiac on a quest for some crystals. You are a creative guy, Charbile. You know what to do. Oh, did I mention I HATE npc push puzzles?

You DQ my game after only 1 Screenshot and declare that all npc push puzzles or mazes won't win. Are you sure you're not the troll?

Lol, just because somebody jokes around and takes things lightly doesn't mean they're a troll or trying to hurt feelings. I thought the game looked hilarious, and just because it's not dead-on serious doesn't mean it's rubbish.

And just to hold my defense: Changing colors and structure of a menu doesn't change the fact you're stuck with single-colored, 8 pix font, and a rectangular frame. You still can't change the inventory menu or the status menu's structure at all. You're stuck with 20x20 sprites and two-framed animations. You're stuck with screen-width textboxes no matter what. The battl;e engine layout is 100% unmodifiable. I'm not saying the actual meat of OHR games is identical, because it's not.

But it's very obvious when two games were made with the OHR. Even to somebody outside of the community, you can tell these (Un-scripted) games were made with a "template", but were filled in totally differently. Scripting changes this a lot. A great game can be made without scripting. A great game can obviously be made with the same set of tools as another great game, it doen't affect the greatness of either. It's interesting to see the cool stuff people pull off without plotscripting. This contest is a good idea.

I'm just saying the OHR isn't very flexible in terms of games feeling truely unique, outside of the artist's graphics and sound. And I don't like my work being even slightly simniliar to the next guy's. That's why I'm not entering. I'm not telling anybody else not to enter or anything, and I'm not even implying that OHR games are bad, or that it's a bad thing the OHR is "cookie-cutter", because It's not. That part of the system is what allows people to make great RPGs in just weeks.

Oh yeah, and Spoon's right about this not so much resembling a contest. I mean, if you're the only judge, and it's because you're offering money, you really are just saying "Make me the best game without plotscripting and I'll pay ya. ", which takes the community out of the picture. The community is what makes the contest fun, so.

There are people reading these threads that saw our posts and wouldn't have understood that my game wasn't auto DQ'd anymore. I wasn't trying to "win" unless you mean this contest. at which point.. I'd like my $50 please.

Good for you, except that my idea blows yours out of the water. Even though I don't know it. I'm so ninja. In my opinion, I could create the game without plotscripting, and it would work well.
