Live Like the Amish Contest

Jack is right about the prize money, so if anyone knows FOR SURE that they will be entering, please let it be known in this thread. I don't want there to be any confusion over the prizes, but I need some kind of tally before I make an official announcement.

I'm in. Certainly I can make SOME sort of game by Dec. 31st.

It will probably have something to do with mazes. Anyone else who feels compelled should also make a maze related game. Then this will be the Amish contest, but also a contest about mazes.

However, how do you end a game without using plotscripting? Isn't <game> the only way to do that?

My game idea has no end, which is why it works. It's sort of Pokemon oriented, but it has no definite ending. Just a free roam world, and side quests aplenty.

If everyone makes a maze game, I will be pissed. Seeing as how I'm the only judge, if your name is not Willy Elektrix you might want to be a little more creative. (He's got dibbs on a maze game.) Oh, and Willy, you should know that I HATE NPC push-puzzles. Just saying...

A simple "This game is over" textbox will suffice to end the game.

I'm in. I may make a courtroom game, where you solve murder mysteries, all using textboxes and making choices, similar to those Phoenix Wright games.

I think I can say mostly for sure. I have an awful habit of not continuing to work on games, so I may end up with nothing, but we'll see.

I will be making a game as well. If I'm asking you guys to get creative, the least I can do is get creative too. Obviously, I will be ineligible for the prize.

How would I ever get the impression that you are trolling my "terrible" contest? Maybe because you are the same guy who makes multiple fake accounts to boost his games' ratings? Maybe because you are the same guy who makes multiple fake accounts to boost his stats for the arena? Maybe because you are the same guy who tried to derail this thread by complaining about how the rules to this contest were limiting? Maybe because you then decided to make a game with the word "limited" in the title?

Don't play the victim here. Your past actions earned you the reputation of a troll. You don't get the benefit of the doubt nor should you expect it.

Alright, alright. So, my point of view on the matter: First off, I understand that ya hate Spoonweaver 8bifit, and that's fine but no need to taunt him in the contest thread. Might as well play nice and just DQ him if the game does turn out to be a slimy game. And Spoonweaver: you gotta understand where he's coming from! I mean people basically always over-react to your "trolling" but at the same time... you do just that, no denying it. I can't claim to be the most active member on the forums- I rarely do much of anything- but I do read quite a lot of the threads and I feel at least partially justified in what I'm saying. At the very least Spoons, realize that if he hates you it's just gonna cause drama if you do enter the contest. At the best, he DQs you and you leave whine-free, but why let it get that far because I think we all know that when people feel that they've been dealt an injustice, they lash out. And honestly, that's probably what continued involvement will lead to. Drama begets drama. 8bifit, I understand where you're coming from, but being so openly hateful isn't gonna get you or anyone anywhere really, Spoon is just gonna retaliate, people are gonna join sides and soon we're gonna have us another closed thread. Best off just chillin a bit and reprimanding him through a DQ. And Spoon, don't pretend you're totally innocent, or that people will just forget. In fact, if I was really on top of my stuff, I'd go find the post where YOU said something along the lines of "you can't expect people to just forget what you've done" to RMZ about mr. triangle.

Backlash expected. Anyhow, that's all I have to say on the matter. Don't get me wrong, not trying to yell at anyone or anything to that effect, simply trying to bring up my point of view and some logic that I hope can settle this pot down.

You can't fix stupidity.

Too many contests lately with "no ripped music" rule.
What do you think, this community is made of musicians? You should know I couldn't even hire a musician to score a game in 2 months if I asked.

8bifit, what would you like to see? What are your interests? What are your dislikes? I want the whole personals page info.

If I had a better idea what you'd like for 50 big ones, I'd love to enter. Otherwise, this is tricky business. Let's get to know you better.

If I am wrong, and this game isn't just a troll, then I am sorry. I'm not disqulifying it as long as it stays within the rules of the contest. I actually hope it suprises me and turns out to be a good game. NOTHING would please me more than having to send Spoonweaver $50. So prove me wrong and make me do just that.

I understand about the music thing. No music is better than ripped music. That's just my opinion, and for this contest mine is the only opinion that counts.

This isn't a dating site. You don't need to know all about me. Just make a good, creative game that follows the rules and you will do just fine.
