I'll probably change the name one more time. How does 'Urbanica' sounds to you? (derived from Britanica ofcourse hehe).
I would kill two flies with one stone with this name, 'cause it could also be the name of the city the game takes place at. Would be as big as a country Smile (Megacity ftw, although i think that the biggest megastructure ever was in Blame!/Noise manga. The city there covered entire surface of the earth and was so deep that the moon was trapped inside of it Smile

@VampiDucky: My room is not much bigger. Have one more room but i have to rent it out so i can afford the rent Smile
Anyway the first version of this shot had bathroom in it but it was a mess and the place was too big for what i had in mind, so i have dropped it.
I'm sure there will be zombies, there is just so much enemies i can think of Smile

That sounds insanely big! ...although Larry Niven's Ringworld would be even bigger, and a Dyson Sphere would be even bigger than that.

Question.
Is it possible to have two or more currency systems with different exchange rate in other parts of the game? I need to know if i can write it to the game document.
Yeah, i'm starting to overcomplicate things Smile

The only way to do multiple currencies (without scripting your own shops) is to use items as the currency. Items can be bought and sold by trading them for various amounts of your currency items. The disadvantage to this method is that enemies can only drop one item, so you would have to script the money rewards that you get after battles.

That's not strictly true -- you can only have one currency active at a time.

Let's suppose your game is divided into three countries. One country uses Dollars, one uses Pesos, and one uses Francs. You start out in Dollarland and for the time being you only have Dollars.

Once you cross over into Pesolandia, your Dollars are stored into a global variable and your cash on hand is reset to 0 (you have no Pesos). Enemies here give you Pesos instead of Dollars. Crossing back to Dollarland, your cash is stored in a different variable and is reset to the value of the Dollars variable. And so on. You don't actually want to visit Francylvania.

This requires moderate scripting, but shouldn't be too hard.

Thanks. That would actually be fine, since i never liked the fact that rat drops some money. Only humanoid enemies should carry cash arround imo Smile

I'm pretty sure that's how Okedoke did it too. Only humanoids dropping cash. I really enjoyed that game, you should try it out if you want- maybe it'd help out with some ideas that you're already looking into!
You can't fix stupidity.

I've heard the scheme that Mogri suggested quite a few times, but has anyone ever used it?

Actually, in terms of floor area, that could be over 50 times more than a Dyson Shell/Sphere. If we suppose that that whole thing is a single mudane office 'tower' that's 4 metres from floor to floor, then the potential floor area, ignoring the Moon and inside of the Earth, is ~26 billion times the surface area of the Earth. According to Wikipedia, a Ringworld is about 3 million times, and a Dyson Shell about 550 million times the surface area of the Earth.

Wow! That is cool! I stand corrected. Guess I should have done the math :)

Well i have slowed down a bit in the production, making some preparations for the cutscenes and such. So to don't let this thread die, one of the speedpaints i did just so i have some clue how it coul'd look like (the final version will be pixelated of course...)
It's a bit mess and i don't even like it that much, but what the hell ^_^

(edit: I have put different version of the picture up, hopefully noone will notice ^_^)

Oh and as for megastructures, here is a page from Noise i was talking about ^_^

And another post for myself ^_^
I have made a mockup screen of hallway. Altough it looks like it is the same tileset as in the room screenshot, dut it's actually completly new. Weekend at work and resources at home ^_^
Anyway, doesnt matter, now it's time to make tileset for a bar.
What i'm genuinely scared about is tileset for a worldmap, cause it will actually be wideshot of a huuuuge city. Why i do thease things to myself ^_^;

I don't usually reply to posts regarding graphical praise, but I gotta say those doors set the high bar for graphics worth aspiring to. I especially like the one that's open, showing off the degrees of light on that dirty floor. Really cool. I like it when people actually care about their work.
