10/10/11
Got paired with Giz. Looks like we both want to make something short and light on story.
At this point, I am psyched.
Remeber: God made you special and he loves you very much. Bye!
Alright!
Day One, October 11th
I'm paired up with J-Taylor.
Personally, i'm psyched. J-Taylor is great when it comes to graphics, and he's also a composer. I am both, but I can't compose a song to save my life, and my graphics are decent.
We currently do not have any ideas. I simply threw out a general idea to him: It shall be an RPG. From there, I hope we can pave the way for a game idea.

October 11, 2011 - 7:36 PM -- Day II of the contest
The Project is coming along quite well. So far, a variety of things have been accomplished:
-the scripting from the Doom RPG has been converted to meet the specs and usage for Mechanix.
-Menu sounds have been put in. All sounds are original, no rippings.
-Music has been added, nine tracks worth so far. I will post all the used music below. All are covers, done in a midi format.
-The first enemy sprite has been made. And given my artistry skills, I'd say it has turned out quite well. Picture of it is below.
-the player's Mercenary hero has been made. I'm not good with faces, so the portrait kinda sucks. pic below.
-Title screen has been made. Looks quite good. Unedited pic of it is below.
-A very slight portion of one of the maps has been made, clearly as a test-thing to see how much detailing I could do with it, and still have it look like the main area in my game. Pic of it is below.
More things are going to be done, but considering this is the first day, I'm quite pleased with the results so far.

Nathan and I have decided to focus on our respective Say It Ain't So! entries for now, so I don't expect to be making too many more posts here before November. We didn't get very much chance to talk about things last night (And we might have to make our own IRC Channel (Or invade Motrya's) so as to not clutter #SlimeSalad with our brilliance.
As for actual development of game ideas, we're both committed it would seem to something light and silly. I'm kind of hoping for a traditional RPG, a kind of Alice in Wonderland thing utilizing my ability to draw women and Nathan's ability to draw fantastic monsters, kind of a Labyrinth sort of thing, very muppetsy but again, we haven't had a lot of chance to discuss it and probably won't until November.
The new "You can get help from anyone you want, as long as both partners agree!" rule is kind of stupid, and I kind of hope we'll see teams striking alliances amongst themselves to protest it. What glorious chaos that would be.
And now, some inspirational trash talk, from Red Angry Slime.
INSPIRATIONAL TRASH TALK FROM RED ANGRY SLIME (TM)
Charbile and Marion Line:
You're clearly the second best team here. I'm sure your pretentious and melodramatic entry will appeal to an angsty adolescent audience.
has spoken!
Voltire and SDHawk:
Another real contender for second best. If Charbile and Marion drop the ball, I'm sure you'll be right there to pick it up and run with it, like the bottom feeders you are.
has spoken!
JayTayKaylor:
J, I loved you on Home Improvement. Bad luck getting stuck with Special K. Enjoy being second best!

the spazztikone & mjohnson092088:
good luck making a game without using your shift keys1

Well, well, well. We got ourselfs a Red Slimin' troll.
The name is Master K. Not to be confused with Special K. It was my title on CP.
I. AM NOT. SPECIAL K!!!!
/hulksmash
With Taylor's powers of graphics and music and ideas, and my powers of graphics and ideas, we'll mop up this competiton.
Giz, you better pray those words taste good, 'cause when July comes, your going to eat them.

It's a scene from Habla No Ingles: The Movie in which my alter ego Dom Gallo was decapitated with a mighty punch from my other alter ego The Giz. He sits there flopping on the floor with no head for the rest of the movie, and Hachi said he wanted to see an animated .gif of it.
Week 1
2nd entry
I had a single exchange with Mari. Used to think it was mario-online, but it's actually Mari who is online. Not sure if Mari is a boy or girl.
Waiting for Mari to appear online some more so we can figure something out. And so I can know which pronoun to refer to Mari. Already troublesome. Mari's from another country too and I don't think English is Mari's first language.

Week 1, 4th entry (if you count the pics and music threads)
I've come up with a decent backstory to the game, which you can view via the Mechanix: Biowar thread.
In addition, (I still need to talk this through with MJohnson),
I came up with the idea for an open-world/hub-map mission-based RPG.
Mission-based, as in a full story, including numerous missions to complete to accomplish the game in full. There are several mission types, some of which I will list now:
------------------------------------------------------
ASSASSINATE: This mission type is a clear assassination of a key member of an organization, whether it be for a crime-gang using Nanobot/ Biotech items, the original company members who created the Nanobot spores who still pose a threat if they are allowed to reproduce more, and rogue members of the Mechanix mercenary team.
--
PERSUADE: Find and persuade members from the outside to join the Mechanix' cause to rid the world of all Nanotech adversaries. This can include corrupting political and military powers, persuading scientists, and other citizens who are moving through the Civil Protection Agency to escape the Nano-infected areas.
--
SABOTAGE: A search and destroy mission involving the use of a team of explosives experts to get the job done. Commonplaces of destruction usually include Nanotech factories, their corporations, and the destruction of any other key areas.
--
V.I.P: An escort mission type where you must guide an important official, whether it be a key member of the Mechanix, or another important official. You must not let harm come to him. If he dies from outside battle, say if he were to trip a landmine, that'd be your butt on the line. If you and the VIP are personally attacked, defend him all you can. If he dies, the mission is failed, and your onboard life-chain to the VIP will activate a self-explosive device attached to you.
--
DEFEND: A mission type where you must defend an object, or many objects from harm. If they are destroyed (NPC touch/collision), your mission fails, and the surrounding blast will destroy your body.
--
INVASION: A mission type where you defend the main Mechanix facilites with a small team from oncoming Nanotech enemies. The only way you fail this mission is if you die.
--
Well, this is all the mission types I came up with so far. Tell me if they sound good or not.

May be I should write something like first entry? ...
Quite late First Entry
After the confusing start for Charbile, - Sorry Char!
- and me beginning rather marioffline than online,
planning the game has finally begun.
At fist Charbile and I wrote PMs. Than We used IRC. I haven't really used IRC before.
We were talking about story and plot and discussing about the battle system.
Now we'll list up all things that should go inside our game.
I think we will be taking our time making this game, wich is a good thing, because we are both busy with other things as well.
For me working together with someone from an other country is fun, and I also learned some new vocabulary.
Time difffrence dosen't make this to difficult, because we're mostly writing e-mails.
@Gizmog's angry red slime:
Noone has ever called me Marion Line before!
If you continue beeing so rude, I'll put you in the game Char and I are making and we'll make you the weakest monster in there! ;)
Oh, and I'm not too sure, if the game will be melodramatic ...

Week 1, sdhawk & voltire
Me and volt have been exchanging PMs back and forth for most of the week. I'm not used to the slow paced nature of messaging for game planning, but it's not too bad since it does give you more time to think between responses.
Currently we've tossed back and forth a few general ideas for what we're making, but haven't really committed to one yet. For the time being we've kind of loosely assigned the rest of the month to coming up with more solid ideas (which works for me 'cause I have a secret project this month).
Not a whole lot else to report, but my biggest fear with this contest was an unresponsive team mate. Our daily correspondence has been quite reassuring in that regard, so I'm confident we can make something great for this contest.
